Yes, Robert. Thanks for the link. A far cry from Sir Uzra's, but better than for naught. Hopefully the circumstances that have arisen through the existence of this thread will compel Paizo to move fast. (I do believe Sir Uzra offered to work cheap.) :)

Of course some companies, like White Wolf, would just realize someone

You are comparing apples and oranges.

If you go look at the various AP sections of these forums you will see people sharing their hand made maps of dungeons and encounters and paizo giving it the okay.

With regards to the Pathfinder Wiki, bear in mind that when we first started the wiki, we contacted several people at Paizo to ask what was acceptable and not and have set strict community guidelines to follow the tenets Paizo set for us. We were granted permission to include any image that appeared on the Paizo Blog, but no other copyright image. Even in these cases, we are providing full disclosure of copyright on all Paizo-owned images and citations throughout the wiki for all Paizo IP (which is, admittedly, most of the wiki's content). Were we to violate the trust between ourselves and Paizo with respect to their intellectual property, trademarks and copyright, I think we'd find ourselves in a similar situation as Urza did with his atlas. We will update our community policies and any other elements of the site to comply with the fan site policy when Paizo releases it.

hmm I might not have been as clear as I should have been. I was trying to bring up the dungeon maps and the wiki as examples of people working with paizo's permission, making something that fans find very helpful.

I really think that SirUrza's atlas was cool (and looked into doing the same myself thing using some of the googlemaps libraries that have been repurposed for custom maps) but the way he went about it wasn't the best.

I was about to start work on a very similar project, a hyperlinked Atlas for my own use, using various maps as found in the Campaign Setting and other Paizo products.
Alas, all that hard work cannot be shared with the community.

Any word on the "official product that includes similar features" Vic was talking about two years ago??

That particular project fell through. A different form of it is on our to-do list.

I really think it'd be a boon to the customer that would be reflected in sales. Unless you're a subscriber to everything, it's easy to lose touch with other products that are geographically relevant to where you're gaming at the moment, products have multiplied so.

While that is quite nice, (and I have just the wall to put it on!!) I was thinking more of an interactive map, a simple series of hyperlinked images on the low end of complexity, and something resembling Google Earth on the high end.

Just how far down on the to-do list is it? =P

It's hard to say, as it depends on several other things.
