It's not a rare concept, even if it's a bit specialized. Janus was a god of beginnings and endings, associated with doorways and portals, in real-world mythology, while settings like the Scarred Lands had Nemorgo, a god of death who was also a god or portals and doorways (and transitions in general, such as life to death).

It is a fairly common concept (Heimdal might also qualify) and it's under-used in previous settings, I'm glad it's here now.
My memory got jogged a little and I remembered that the thread had started about the 4e chosen deities and that it needed cool god-concepts for adventurers and not commoner concepts like a god of doors. It was on the eve of the great flame wars so I guess it's better left undisturbed.

Is it wrong of me to want to make a cleric of the god of doors named Lee, just so I can shout "Lee blows doors down!" in-game?
Stupid Tencacious D. Being eminently quotable. Ruining my life. :)
Nothing wrong with that at all. I'd want to play the fighter named KJ, so when your cleric casts a cure I can quote, "I have a friend named Lee. He cast a spell, a spell on me."
