I just realized...

When I worked for a consulting company that did a lot of work to make offices paperless (document management IT system + scanned documents) you had A LOT of paper to send out to scanning companies which scan things by hand.

Now, I'm sure a lot of what they're scanning is not done by hand, but can you imagine how much it takes to start a business like this? It's mind boggling!

Plus the pricing is pretty steep.

In a way it is not a new concept - they're just adding in the online-review process to allow you to remotely sort mail without having to appear in person.
