One thing that's always bothered me about D&D was that there was really no difference between warriors who wielded different types of weaponry. An axe-fighter is like a swordsman is like a hammerer is like a rapier..er. The only difference is maybe which die you use and the crit rate. Dual wielders, sword-and-shielders and two-handers have a little different feel, but between a warhammer and a greatsword, it's pretty much the same thing.
This is one of the things I'd really like to see with pathfinder. I'm not suggesting any kind of crazy charm tree like exalted, but I'd like to see a few (somewhat strong) feat chains that make one weapon feel different from the other. I'm not sure exactly what each category should entail, or what the categories should even be, but maybe something like the monk's flurry for a longsword or overhand chop becoming bludgeoning only. I've seen a few feats to this effect in other materials, but haven't been overly impressed.
what do the rest of you think? Would this enhance gameplay? How would you divide the feat chains, and what would you actually put in them?
