Monk – DR at 20th level

Classes: Bard, Monk, and Rogue

DR 10/magic? At level 20? Exactly how many things is a 20th-level Monk going to face that won’t have a magic weapon (or some other way to negate this ability)? This is even more useless than the Quivering Palm. Make it something else. DR 10/chaos, DR 10/adamantine, DR 5/-, but this is not useful.

There are still CR 20+ monsters without magic weapons. Most of them are really big nasties.

Yes; ironically, DR X/magic is perhaps more useful against natural weapons at high levels (at which point enemies usually don't have DR X/magic themselves) than it is at medium levels (where DR X/magic is pretty common).

Except, if those nasties have DR/magic themselves (most do), then their natural weapons bypass your DR/magic anyway, and you're back to not getting any benefit.

Huh? What Monster Manual are you looking at? Most high CR creatures (other than dragons) have DR to things like metals or alignments, if anything.

I myself thought that DR 10/magic at 20th is more like DR "1 zillion"/ everything. It should be something more in line with the DR of the Paladin; DR 10/Chaotic or (better) DR 10/Lawful. I know that a Monk is a Lawful character, but that would be the reason: only a strongly disciplined creature (like a Monk itself, that has Ki strike Lawful and so it is one of the few creatures that can easily hurt another Monk) can bypass the fierce defence of a disciplined Martial Arts Master.
Anything, just not DR xxx/magic, please !

Or both; sorry, I had forgotten all that "DR 10/cold iron and good" nonsense (wishful thinking?).
