Old Azlant

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

The Exchange Kobold Press

There's a bit of Thassilonian history in the Varisia writeup that has always intrigued me, namely the existence of a sunken continent in Golaria just off the Varisian coast. That's Old Azlant.

And I might be writing a sunken continent adventure that works there. It's called "Lords of Lost Arbonesse", and I discuss it over on the Open Design forum.

If you would be interested in that sort of adventure (with a pulp Cthulhu twist), please go vote for it in the poll over there. It would be the first attempt at a Pathfinder licensed adventure, and I'm curious to hear how much support it would have.

Wait a minute. Paizo's finally developed some sorta license for 3PPs? Is there a logo, too?

and done!
But it was harder than I thought with all those cool ideas...

Well, they have mentioned that a license will be available later, presumably when the game ships in August. That could be just a license/logo for the mechanics (extremely like, given that it is OGL-derived). It might also allow some licensed material in the Golarion setting, or I might be able to negotiate a license for that.

Given the time required to write one, it's certainly not too early for me to start thinking about a Pathfinder support adventure. And even if the setting stays off-limits, I can certainly write a "sunken city" adventure that would fit very neatly into Golarion or into someone's homebrew game.

I can't believe that this post is actually buried!

Wolfgang Baur contemplates asking Paizo for authoriation to do a Golarion Open Design Project?!?

This is better than a wet dream!

I'll go vote!

Holy Peacock Spirit!

With Krome on our side this can't lose!

Speaking of which, the possibilities could be incredible. In the Open Design format, Wolfgang could expand on concepts, like the Peacock Spirit that have only been lightly touched upon!

This idea has been cross posted in this thread.

And remember, the Paizo says no, don't begrudge them. It might be too soon for them. That doesn't mean that the project might not see light in a different way (like an in-house with Wolfgang in the traditional freelancer role).

Very interested and voted.

Grand Lodge

I put my two coppers in and pulled the lever.

Like I said better than a wet dream.

I emailed several friends also.

When I looked, we were 6 votes down, I think I can garner at least 6 people to vote.

Scarab Sages

I'll be voting later when I get home, I'm a huge Atlantis buff, and I've been a Cthulhu fan for longer, throw in a healthy topping of Darkest of the Hillside Thickets, and man this would have the possibility of being the best adventure ever written!!! to me at least!

Liberty's Edge

ok i suppose i should keep this up

specially considering i already voted... i am also a greatfan both of Cthulhu Mythos and Atlantis... so playing an adventure on Golarion about Azlanti or Thassilon, would be great.

Voted! I hope that you get the thumbs up from Paizo, Wolfgang!

The Exchange Kobold Press

Thanks for your support, folks! The voting is a lot closer now, and I think that the Azlanti/Thassilon angle could pull it off.

Grand Lodge

I have to say I'll be interested in either one. Having good outsiders as the antagonists would be an interesting game.

Grand Lodge

11% ahead of the competition! Let's keep driving that lead up.

Though I must admit Angels as opposition does sound interesting. Deadly, mind you, but interesting.

Now if the two can be woven together into one masterpiece adventure!

The better Nature of the Lost Angels of Arbonesse?

Grand Lodge

Your gonna cause me to have wet dreams with titles like that!

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Charter Superscriber

This would be the bomb.

SO, what ya think, Wolfie? Up to a REAL challenege? Nature of the Lost Angels of Arbonesse sounds like a GREAT title to me... besides it adds a new twist to Azlant...

Spoiler:
besides the Aboleth causing the Star Stone to fall, Angels could have had a hand (or wing) in it... destroying or hiding some great evil... prison for the Tarrasque perhaps? or something else...

Edited (corrections)

Spoiler:
Except the spawn of Rovagug began to rampage 1300 years after the Earthfall event. It seems more likely to me (Rovagug being a lord of destruction) that any 'angels' involved in the Earthfall event were rather more CE and assisted it as an act of 'worship' to help free their master, Rovagug, from his prison, than trying to keep him pent in....
