Ummm ... the kind of spell check that drinking some nice Portugese white wine makes you think you need? For "spell check" please read "skill check".
Rin bounds confidently across the rope bridge. "That was easier than I thought it would be. Thanks Lafiel."

Drivish suddenly falls off the arch, overbalanced, and plunges down the 40 feet to the pool below. At that moment, the giggler appears, a small, horned, winged devil hovering the bridge -- it apparently pushed Drivish and is laughing maniacally.
Drivish, -13hp, the current isn't bad in the wide pool.

Lafiel quickly throws a dagger at the flying demon, which misses, then throws another one at it.

Drivish swims towards the closest ledge and then starts climbing while announcing "I'm ok."

I only bring this up because it came to my attention at a f2f game last night, but you can only use Hunter's quarry and Sneak Attack once per round.

Thanks, though actually I believe the rule is that you can only do the damage from them once per round -- as Lafiel's first attack missed, the second attack gets all the extras.

You're right, I didn't notice the first attack missed.

Lafiel Abriel |

While throwing the rope to Drivish:
"The mummy-hand... It's gone. It disappeared from my pack somehow. The amulet is still here however." Lafiel tells her comerades. "Not that I care too much about that disgusting thing however...".
Afterwards:
"Lets go finish the job with that annoying demon-thing." Lafiel says, and starts walking back across the arch towards the ziggurat room. While moving, she tries to notice any signs (like drops of blood on the floor or the sound of flapping wings) to discern where the demon is.

As Lafiel leads the way, suddenly she feels a sharp sting on the back of her neck, and the devil reappears. The stung area turns icy cold and Lafiel feels dazed and distracted.
"Cursed humans! Go ahead, kill me, there's worse waiting for you!"
Imp tail sting attack (1d20+8=17, 1d8+3=9)
Secondary attack v Fort (1d20+5=15)
Not technically dazed, but -2 to Will. 9hp damage and 5 ongoing poison, save ends. You're still in a 5' passage. The imp is tiny, so can be (and is) in the same space as Lafiel, and is visible. Rin is right behind Lafiel, with the others in some order behind (Drivish in the rear). Anyone can move past Lafiel, but will draw an OA from the imp.

Lafiel yelps from the sting on the back of her neck. Trying to shake the poison off, she strikes the imp, luring it farther away from her.
Positioning Strike vs. imp - I'll move it 2 squares, preferably to Fargrim.
Positioning Strike (Vs. Will);Damage;Hunter's Quarry (1d20+9=22, 1d4+4=6, 1d6=2)
If Lafiel is still in the same square as the imp, she'll tumble to move away from the imp (3 Squares, preferably back towards the bridge)
Lafiel's neck feels terrible from the imp's poison.
Save vs. Poison (1d20=9)

Drivish Ammasin |

Fargrim, please wait just a second!
Drivish moves past the imp. "Lafiel, sorry, but try to duck." He turns and spits a blast of cold at Lafiel and the imp.
Double move to get the imp within 3 squares and use dragon breath, marking the imp.
21 vs. Imp's Reflex; 19 vs. Lafiel's Reflex
5 cold damage

![]() |

Drivish manages to slide past the imp to line up his cold blast, which catches both the imp and the rogue, then Lafiel, though still feeling the cold of the poison (as well as the dragonborn) kills the thing.
Combat over -- Lafiel, roll a couple more saves to see how many surges you have to burn.
EDIT: Correction -- Barshevy went before you and gave a save bonus, so you only took the ongoing this turn, and the 9+3 saved at the end of this turn.

Lafiel Abriel |

As the imp falls to the ground, Lafiel eyes Drivish nervously. Obviously she isn't happy with what happened.
Pat
Lafiel doesn't really trust Drivish after his choice, and she feels like there was a good chance of her dying on that combat (She was on 2 HP in the beginning of her round). For that reason she readies a dagger while walking, but conceals it in her sleeve, ready for anything to happen ahead and behind her.

Drivish Ammasin |

Drivish addresses the group: "Again, Lafiel, I apologize. I would never take harming an ally lightly, and this was no exception. I saw the potential damage an invisible enemy could do and I took a risk. I can assure I will never become reckless with my breath weapon or any other weapon, as evidenced when we fought the swarm. At this time, it seemed to be an appropriate action.... And yes, all dragonborn can breath some form of lethal element."

"I know the problem. Most of my more powerful spells don't discriminate. The day may come when I have to take the same risk as Drivish. Like him, it's not a decision I'd take lightly. But you should know, for your own sakes, that the possibility is there." Rin stops talking and examines the imp's body.
