"We wont be defying a direct order soldier." He says calmly to Synatria, believing the point was mute, but unable to resist putting in his two cents. After helping to dispose of the bodies, he goes to Haedric and gives him the okay to lift off." Here ya go Soldier!" He says enthusiastically as he pulls the captains hat from behind his cloak and places it down on the wheel/controls in front of Haedric." Take us up." His face remains a smile, disguising his more serious intentions. He goes silently up to Joyelle-

and whispers in her ear."Keep an eye on the kobold. If she endangers the mission.."He seems to hesitate for a moment, as if unsure." Then you know what to do."
He pats her on the shoulder and moves to inspect the big guns on the ship, making sure that they had sufficient ammunition before manning one of them.

Synatria glares at him. The hawk, whom she had been petting until now, screeches, looking for the source of her mistress's anger.

female half-elf Rogue 3

Joyelle nods her understanding. She continues to work silently and with no trace of any emotion. She listens carefully for orders, obeying instructions to the best of her ability.

Spoiler:
She makes sure to stay aware of Synatria's location at all times.

Male personality Warforged (Scout) Ranger 1/Cleric 2

Ignoring the interplay between the others, Triage begins to scan the horizon for any sign of Karrnath airships.

"How long until they are upon us?" He asks no one in particular, but he hopes someone has an idea ...

GM

The ship raises shakenly into the air, after a few rough and tumble minutes Hearic gets the ships stable and moving. The group pours over the maps and the compass working out heading. Soon the ground is rushing beneath you as you sail though the sky.

The ship gives you a good view at just how much of this land is burnt and over grown. You see the old ruin here and there, see the bambled fields of generations past. You see just what this war has done to what was once great farmland. Old roads, burnt Dragonflys, catapults, ruined forts and old trenches speak to just how much fighting this area has seen.

The day is spent flying the wind ripes across the ship, the group as an inexperienced air crew stay from the edges and wobble with the rocking of the ship, after all this is not much like a dragonfly trip.. The one thing the group does know is how to load the ships gun, big beast it is double bow, two foot bolts. Not the biggiet ship bow, but large. It does make it seem combat was not the ships main goal. It only has the one gun. No side bows, no boarding bows. Just that one gun. It seems to you it's more a token weapon then one ment to be used often. Then there is the jump bays. While those you understand, you have never seen a set up like that. The bays are made to drop objects from. Sure you have seen bombing from ships but that was over the side or out a side mounted jump door or lashed to the hull. This is something new.

But all that is pushed aside once the ships are spotted. Two of them coming from the northwest and fast. Those you know Karrnath Humming birds. Fast triple ring ships. Unlike the dragon fly's who's rings are front and back. The humminbirds ring's are all back to back air rings. The are small fast attack craft often used for troop movement and bombing runs. And they will be upon you soon

Male Human Monk 4

"OK, we need a quick decision. Bluff or fight? I don't think running is an option. What chance do we have of calling in reinforcements?"

Male Changeling Soulknife 4th

"Bluffing is futile, As we were scyryed upon before we took off, it's very likely we're still under Karnath's watchful eye. I don't think it'll be their first reaction to blast us out of the sky however, considering the precious cargo we're carrying." He loads his crossbow and waits.

female half-elf Rogue 3

"How well do you think you can aim that thing? I bet if we tied a blast disk to the head of one of those crossbow bolts it could do some real damage."

Joyelle Reynardine wrote:

Garroth looks at her, an almost-smile crossing his lips. "I like the way you think. Either you or Jax aim; I'll take care of the ammo." Garroth immediately goes to work, trying to tie a blast disk to the end of one of the bolts. As he's working, he also turns to Synatria. "Can you charge these up with any kind of energy?"

Male Changeling Soulknife 4th

Jaxon Nods."Let me handle it Joyelle." he says, placing a hand on her shoulder as he brushes past her and assumes his position as gunner. He glances back at Joyelle over his shoulder. "Wish me luck?" he inquires, stopping long enough to see a softness in her eyes that she surely tried to hide. The moment brought a smile to his featureless face as he turned his head back around and lined up the sights.

female half-elf Rogue 3

"Good luck," she says with an anticipatory grin. "Knock 'em dead."

GM

An engineering or know, military or air ship check will let ya know the best place to aim. An Int check will work if no one has any of the listed skills

female half-elf Rogue 3

Knowledge Engineering: 1d20+5=16

Male personality Warforged (Scout) Ranger 1/Cleric 2

Triage addresses Garroth, "I have some small enchantments that may be of use ..."

Spoiler:

I an cast Guidance (+1 competence bonus to next attack roll),
Bless (+1 morale bonus on attack rolls, and
Magic Weapon (+1 enchantment to weapon)
Want me to cast all three for the ship's bow? (do I have time for that Keeper?)

GM

joyelle

Spoiler:

Aiming at the ring is best, aiming at the ring support is even better. damaging the ring may allow the elemental to escape, damaging the support may knock the ring lose or at lest force the ship it land or disengage

Triage

Spoiler:

You got 2-5 mins at lest before the ships gain within long rang of the bow

Male Human Monk 4

Garroth finishes securing his two blast disks to the large bolts. "Someone hand me their disks! We should get several of these ready, on the ... off chance we miss." He'll continue with his work as soon as someone gives him the disks. In total, he tries to make at least 6 of the 'special' ammunition.

female half-elf Rogue 3

Handing blast disks to Garroth.
"Jax, aim for the ring supports. That's where you can do the most damage. Hitting the ring is good too, but hitting the ring support is better."

GM

One note due to the fact you can not fit the rigged ammo into the ammo bins the crossbow will have to be hand loaded. But it is a double bow, so ya shoot 2 at once

female half-elf Rogue 3

How difficult will it be to load the crossbow by hand? Is someone going to have to climb up on the edge to do it?

GM

No they can be loaded from the side. just slow so ya can get 1 shot off a round( well 2 bolts but one roll)

Synatria hesitates. Then she shakes her head. "Um, no, I, er, can't, sorry."

Male personality Warforged (Scout) Ranger 1/Cleric 2

As Triage hands his blast disks to Garroth, he says, "When they get closer to our range, I will bless you, grant you guidance for your first shot, and enchant the bow."

We'll need all the help we can get! He thinks to himself.

GM

How close doe you wish to let them get before you fire? the rang increases on the bows are 200' but hard to aim at closer then 100' due to mounting. It works just like long rang sept backward per 20' (so at say 50' your looking at a +6]

Male Human Monk 4

Garroth will actually continue until he has 8 of the bolts ready, instead of 6. That would give us enough for 4 rounds. "If Jax shoots, who wants to reload? Anyone else out to be shooting their own 'bows against the scum ..."

female half-elf Rogue 3

"I'll reload. A shortbow isn't much use at long range."

Male Human Wizard 4 (Evoker)

Haedric continues piloting the ship, oblivious to the explosions about to rock the Karrnathi ships.

Just checking, if I end up having to step away from the controls, how quickly will we fall to the ground/our doom?

Male Changeling Soulknife 4th

Jaxon rummages through his pack quickly and pulls from within his explosive charge meant for the tower. He calls out for Triage. Once triage Comes, he shouts out over the whipping wind and roaring flames around them"Triage, this is an explosive. Set it on the barrels we're carrying. If It looks like we're gonna be captured, or the ship is going to crash... Blow it up." He shakes his head slightly" If We cant get those things back to Cyre, then we cant let them fall back into Karnath's hands. Besides, who wants to leave a corpse around for them to resurrect? It's a direct order soldier.Get to it." He says, patting the warforged on the back before returning his eyes to the sights. He feels sweat upon his brow and a slight shake in his trigger finger. He quickly steadies himself and smiles." Say When."

Garroth, your call.

Male Human Monk 4

Never let a good set of movie quotes die, especially when it's one of my favorites ...

Garroth looks to Jax. "Go for the supports; the ship on the left first. Maybe we can get lucky and it'll careen into the other."

He turns to the ships and aims his own heavy repeater. "All right, Karrnath ... you called down the thunder, well now you've got it! I'm coming for you, and hell's coming with me!!"

Male personality Warforged (Scout) Ranger 1/Cleric 2

Triage nods at Jax, "As you wish, sir!"

Laying his hand briefly on Jax's shoulder, the warforged quietly intones a blessing, "Hospes tribuo regimen."

He next raises his hands to the sky, calling out, "Is bona dat vos virtus!".

Finally, he places his hands on the mighty bow, murmuring, "Beatus is telum per veneficus vires."

He hefts the explosive charge he has been given and glances around at his comrades.

"For Cyre!"

He ducks below, ready to do his duty.

Spoiler:

So, that's a +1 competence bonus to Jax's next attack roll.
Everyone gets a +1 morale bonus to their attack rolls and on saving throws versus fear for for 2 minutes.
The bow has a +1 on attack and damage for 2 minutes.
Good luck gang!

GM

If I was using normal xp in this game you would all get extra for them lines :)

Female Kobold Artificer 2/Druid 2

Synatria nervously takes a few steps back, petting her hawk. She stops by the barrels and opens one, taking a look at the contents to distract herself.

GM

Those would not be the barrels in the hold would they? That could take some work to open

GM

AT what range are you guys going to shoot?

The ships come closer swiftly over taking the airship. Port and starboard they go flanking the ship. They each have a small deck gun but nothing of real power. Both also seem to have the side doors open, You can see movement inside. Boarder you think very soon you may have some hand to hand to worry with

Male Human Monk 4

I would say that Jax should wait until they are close, but not yet having gotten to either side. That way, we don't suffer any collateral damage if we manage to get rid of one ...

Male Human Monk 4

After Jax has fired, Garroth will run to one side of the ship (port side if both Karrnathi ships make it along side, otherwise to whichever side a surviving ship makes it to). As soon as he sees the bay doors open, he'll open fire at any men he sees getting ready to board.

heavy repeater (1d20+3=7, 1d10=5, 1d20+3=23, 1d10=1) crit confirm on second shot (1d20+3=9, 1d10=5)

No to me opening it, or to him being in the hold?

GM

No to him being in the hold, If you want to open it I am not going to say no outright

Male Changeling Soulknife 4th

Jaxon sends his first shot.

1d20+6=23

GM

Jaxson fires the deck gun the bolts streak toward the approaching ships. The both slam into the first humming birds forward ring. The hummingbirds ring being frail craft splits apart, it fragments and a maelstrom of air buffs the forward half of the ship as, it spinning out of control you see men tossed from the ship some flying others falling screaming to the ground below. Suddenly the 2nd ring bursts apart and the ship designates into tinder, bodies and a rush or small tornadoes. Garroth takes aim at one of the flying men and hits him but still he seems to come toward the ship.

Synatria

Spoiler:

Synatria pulls open the barrel just a crack and grey mist pours forth as if from a damn. Mist that brings cold pain and agony to Synatria. Pain unlike anything she has even known reaches into her. It's like the cold grasp of Dorlauur has come to claim you. The mist fills the hold and you chock and grasp as it assaults you You and Anne both take 21 hp of damage Anne falls to the floors dead and you to your knees as the agony sweeps you. And the most unholy scream you have ever heard sweeps though the hold. A scream that comes from you

I'll need a fort save

Triage

Spoiler:

As you walk down the hatch the you hear a scream unlike any you have ever heard. a grey mist seems to pour forth from one of the barrels and Synatria skin pale and glinting seems to kneel before it screaming.

female half-elf Rogue 3

Joyelle works as quickly as she can to get the crossbow reloaded.

Okay, I'm a sporting enough fellow to admit that I deserved that.

...This is the last roll, isn't it? I fail, I take one more point of damage, I'm in trouble. Wish me luck...

Synatria screams in agony and collapses. "Anne...what have I done...AAAAAAUGH.....what...I done....
