When I read CotCT "Crowen of Fangs", one of my greatsest disapointments was to see there wasn't any written section describing the option of storming citadel Volshinek and recapturing it from the hands of ileoses' servents. instead, we only get two really long and battle focused Dungeon crawls... and I think it's a real shame there are no massive battles.
so anyone has any idea on how do I run such a huge battle? some advice about the citadel? something at all?

MASSIVE SPOILERS THROUGHOUT... obviously, it's the "CotCT" forums.
The group I'm DMing has locked up a good number of the baddies from "Edge of Anarchy" in the Citadel. I imagine that they'll do the same through the next two adventures.
For our campaign, I like the idea of one of Ileosa's more twisted lackeys freeing the inmates and locking the place up tight, where they'd "run the asylum." There's no real need to assault the Citadel, but if they want to check it out, they'd be in for a disturbing (if not especially threatening) scene.
Am I missing something? In "Crown of Fangs" all of the big bad's forces are quartered... well, you know where. The Citadel seems like it'd be run by a skeleton crew of pressed-into-service citizens, maybe thugs rather than well-trained guards, while the former occupants have deserted or gone underground.

spoilers ahad, O' course.
Yes, the wat Crown of fangs presents the situation, any assult on citadel Volshinek wouldn't be untresting\logical... it's just that I don't like the way Crown of Fangs does, and am going to do some massive changes in my campign. for example, I will encourge my players to do an actual rebelion in Korvosa, attcking critical locations (such as citadel Volshinek), having some tight querters massive urban battles and recrouting allies (Such as winning back the favor of the church of abadar, or convincing the verisians\shoanti to give further milltary aid). that way, I could relocate some of the demons and other guardians from Castle Korvosa to other locations, and the infeltration to the castle will feel less like a dungeon crawl.
thanks aout the inmates idea though- it's brillient!

It could make for a nice "full circle" feeling for any groups who turned in Gaedren Lamm rather than just murdering him if he ended up there in the final confrontation. Presumably he'd be one freed prisoner among many, and his eleven hit points wouldn't make him any sort of threat, but it could be a fun scene nonetheless. :)
Maybe I need to throw more petty thugs at my party just to set up a similar scene. Hmm...

Heck, yes! They're going to cross paths with Zenobia Zenderholm (sp?) at the 'big event' at the conclusion of "Edge of Anarchy" where she'll recognize the party as instrumental in bringing the "child-abusing monster" to justice, and promise to see justice carried through fully. Of course, something nasty is soon to come to town which'll throw a rather significant wrench in the cogs of the law. I expect he'll be around long enough for just the sort of dramatic scene you described. Hope the same can be said for....
