How are peoples' 4E books holding up?

I ask this because the pages of my Dungeon Master's Guide, which I bought at launch, are starting to pull loose of the string-weave that holds it to the binder. The glue fastening the pages just isn't holding to the book (though it is holding to the pages,) and it's coming away. My other two 4E core books are, thus far, fine.

Anyone else having a problem like this, or others?

Nope. None of my friends books are experiencing what you are describing either. I would contact WotC customer service and see if there might be a replacement policy for this.

One of my friends was having a similar problem. He works at a bookstore, so it was no problem for him to return it and get another.

The only problem I've having is that the ink smudges sometimes.

One of my best friends owns the game store I bought mine at, so theoretically, I should be able to handle it too.

I'm not exactly thrilled with the paper quality, myself. I mentioned it in another thread a while back when complimenting Paizo on their printing and paper. The pages seem warped and wavery (and have ever since I unsealed the box set at the gamestore,) as if it isn't hardy enough to hold so much ink.

Same here, no problems experienced with my Books and I have pretty heavily read through my DMG, PHB and MM.

When its especially humid, my pages will get wavy, but otherwise, no problems here either.

Well, so far, sounds like an isolated incident, particularly since my Player's Handbook and Monster Manual are just fine.

Still not thrilled about the paper quality, but maybe Paizo's set my expectations too high.

Can't tell. The 4E DMG is under the table's "short" leg.

Well then... how well is it holding up the table?

Ah come on! Tell us how you really feel about the books... :-D

I know one of the books that my sunday DM/group is/has come loose at the binding as well. I haven't really overused my own because my 4e game doesn't start until Oct so I may experience the same thing... of course my 3e & 3.5e all came apart as well.

I'm having the exact same problem with my DMG as well. I've been meaning to contact WoTC customer service, but I don't know exactly how eager I am to pay S&H for a new book, vs. just biting the bullet and buying a new copy.

'Course, my roommate's PHB is getting a little loose in the binding, so I suppose we could ship them at the same time or something.

It sounds like it's only a few copies, but I will admit, they do feel a bit weak in the spine (even Adventurer's Vault flops open a little too easily).
