I'm looking towards the future with my current group and wondering at the changes I would need to make to the epic game to continue with our current pathfinder rules set (if any).
Can anyone out there who is good with math tell me the formula by which I can continue the XP award chart and the XP to advance chart further into the epic levels?
Does anyone have any experience playing at these levels? Does Paizo begin to breakdown at epic levels?
Does anyone forsee problems with using Paizo at Epic levels? Should I continue awarding feats at odd levels (epic feats that is) or switch back to every 3?
Thank you in advance for any help

At the highest levels and for Fast progression, The amout of XP needed to reach the next level is always (well, except at the first couple of levels) ~1,41 (square root of 2) times the amount of XP needed for this level.
To make this easier, you can just go and have the necessary amount for level X be twice the amount for level X-2.
Medium progression takes roughly 1.5 times as much XP as Fast, and Slow 1.5 times as much as Medium, but the numbers are usually rounded.
The XP award totals alternate between 1.5 times the previous amount and 1.333333 (4/3) times the previous amount.

I haven't played Pathfinder RPG at those levels, but I did play 3.0e and a bit 3.5e. Things sure get insane at those levels, but I can't tell you whether Pathfinder RPG changes that. I guess that because the epic rules are still 3.25 (they're mostly still 3.0 rules, though 3.5 did facelift them a little bit), the old problems aren't going away.
Maybe Paizo will do their own epic rules some day...

The Wraith wrote:Thanks for the great work, KaeYoss !I confess: most of it was done by Excel.
What are the formula(s) you used for it? I have a player who has a character that has been basically unplayable by him for years and he would love to play it. Also I want to test myself as a DM by crafting an adventure for him while he plays this favored character.
He has had the character since first edition D&D which is part of the reason I would love to let him play the character again.
Oh and I entered your chart into my game files and things will get interesting I think as from the looks of it we can drop a lot of levels from the character and still have him at what I consider easily playable. I thank you for this work and I am certain the player will be pleased he can actually play the character once more. Thank you so much, but I would still love the exact formula(s) you used for the chart in excel.

The formulae - note, they are for epic levels and don't quite work out at lower levels:
To get fast XP Progression beyond 20, the formula is 2*(x-2). Means that if A21 Holds level 21 fast (and A20 holds 20th-level and so on), you enter "=A19*2". A22 will be =A20*2 and so on (you can use the autofill function)
Medium is 1.5* Fast, so for B21 (level 21 medium), you have "=A20*1.5"
Slow (to go into C21) = "B20*1.5"
XP Awards (single encounter)
If D21 is to contain the XP awarded for level 21 (and the lower cells the awards for lower levels), you enter =D20*4/3, and D22 is =D21*1.5. D23 is *4/3 again, 24 is *1.5, and so on. You can again use the autofill function: Simply enter the two furmulae, select both cells, and draw down. It will automatically fill in the formulae alternatelly.
