Been testing my GMing muscles with the help of a bunch of wonderfully patient players over on Rev's Rune Stones and am now feeling confident enough to run something longer and more complex.
I'm hunting for 6 players to play Scepter Tower of Spellgard. Two people have already expressed interest and it would be useful to have an alternates list in case things go awry - as has been known. The module is the new Forgotten Realms module under 4E rules. Prior knowledge is not really a problem as I'm happy enough to tweak (and probably will anyway).
The basics
Start with level 2 pcs. Races and classes are standard PHB, DDI addons and MM races from the back of the book. I'll accept Swordmage if anyone wants to go for it, but please be aware that Amazon has not yet delivered my FR Player's Guide, so if you want to go that route you'll have to wait until I get it and absorb the mechanics.
Unaligned is fine, evil is not.
I'd prefer players who are already enthused about 4E. You don't have to be completely familiar with all the mechanics, just not actively averse to them.
I'm UK based, in case that impacts on anyone badly.
You should be aware that I will ruthlessly GMpc characters if things need to move on. I'm not a fan of lagging games and am looking for active, committed players who can post reliably once a day.
Questions and queries, please post here. Oh - and if you'd like to play as well.
Weekends tend to be poor for recruitment threads, so I'll leave this open until Monday evening (22 September, UK evening) and see what kind of interest there is at that point. I'm not sure how big the pool of interest is likely to be, so it would be helpful if you could also post some rough idea of character concept.

I have been waiting and watching for quite awhile for a new 4E game to start - but I have a drawback. I have never played 4E, so this will be my first with it. I am currently playing in 3.0 tabletop and a few great Pathfinder games here.
I know I want to be Eladrin, and am sorely tempted by one of the mage classes, warlock perhaps? Am leafing thru the pages now!!!!
(I havent looked at the online stuff at all - should i?)
Is there a good character sheet or layout example, maybe from your other game?

Rev Rosey |

Looking good. Thanks for the enthusiasm.
So far we have
Pat - good shifter cleric of Selune.
Radavel - yes, you're welcome :D - unknown class and race
Lazaro - good to see you - unaligned Swordmage will be fine, but you'll need to wait until I get the book (should be early this week)
Otto - don't fret about not having played 4E, we'll all be handholding to some extent. Eladrin is fine, so too warlock. If you're going Warlock there is some Star Pact stuff in the latest online Dragon you might be interested in. I believe the FR player guide will also have a new pact, and if so, once the book arrives, I'll take a look for you. Or someone who already has access can.
hopeless - You're fine. Half elf paladin of the Raven Queen sounds good to me.
I have one more pre-interested so we're full.
Anyone else goes to the alternate list in case someone has to drop out.
Build is using stats as per PHB. Looks like we definitely need a chunky defender type, but let's see how this shapes up.
Character sheet with relevant information and suggested layout is here.
It will help a lot if you can post the actual stats involved for at will, daily and encounter powers as well as standard melee and ranged attacks. It would also help if you post keywords (e.g. radiant, fire etc). As I didn't in the example, but should have done.
One other thing. Your characters will need to have some question they need answering. You're journeying to see a prophetic spook. Of course you could be there for other reasons, but we can look into that.

I can't immediately see starting gold for 2nd level pcs. Let's call it 225gp.
If anyone does know the real amount, please let me know.
Hi, Rosey.
Starting at higher level is DMG143, though it might be a bit generous for level 2.
Choose whatever standard adventuring gear you want from the tables in the Player’s Handbook. For magic items, choose one item of your level + 1, one item of your level, and one item of your level – 1. In addition, you have gold pieces equal to the value of one magic item of your level – 1. You can spend this money on rituals, potions, or other magic items, or save it for later.

So I could have a Lvl 3 magic item (680gp), one at lvl (520gp), one at -1 (360), whatever standard adventuring I want, and gp equal to my a magic item of my level -1 (360gp). Is that correct?

That sounds a little too much. Let me come up with a compromise before you all kit yourselves out with world-ending substances and weaponry.

Wis 8? With Whirling Blade as a daily? Remind me not to stand next to him :D That's got a nice elemental feel to the powers.
Not sure on region benefits. Likely yes, because flavour=good for me. Am about to set up a discussion thread for you all.
EDIT: Have now set up discussion thread.
He's a smart "man", but hasn't the "sense god gave a goose".

Pat - leader (cleric)
Rad - defender/leader (fighter/warlord)
hopeless - defender (paladin)
Lazaro - defender (swordmage)
Otto - striker (warlock)
Fabes - ???
Looking at this a roguey type or another striker leaps out as the obvious gap.
Shift over to the discussion thread chaps if you don't mind. Am copying this across now.
