Hey folks,
I'm currently running and converting the Rise of the Runelords, and I've been wondering how you handle the XP calculation of NPCs with classes.
As an example, for the purposes of encounter building, a goblin warrior 1 is a CR1/4 (NPC class level - 3, which I interpret as 3 ticks down the XP chart).
But, the monster itself is actually a CR1/3 by it's calculations in the Monster Manual.
Or what about a CR3 creature (bugbear fighter 3) which becomes a CR1 creature for the purposes of encounter generation.
Do I hand out XP based on the default CR1/3 and CR3 values, or on the modifed values that take into account the encounter value of the NPC?
I'm inclinded to use the modified value, but figured I'd see what everyone else was doing (if anything).
