Ranger - Track Ability

Classes: Barbarian, Fighter, and Ranger

You have Track now as a class feature rather than a feat. While our group embraced the idea of making Survival allow tracking without the prerequisite for a feat, in our campaigns over the years, other classes have taken the Track feat.

In the interests of backwards compatibility, would you not consider keeping Track as a feat that simply gives a +5 to Survival checks to follow tracks? Then you can give it to the ranger as a bonus feat, as before, and allow other classes to be excellent trackers, should they choose.

I agree. For backwards-compatibility it would be a lot better if Track was a feat that added 1/2 your class level to Survival checks made to follow tracks. It would also give other classes the option of being more experienced trackers... why can't a rogue have as good an eye?

This is a solid point. I will consider this change. Please bring this back up when we get to the feats section.
