Leave 4E fans alone!

4th Edition

The subject line may seem like a joke, but it's not. I'm no fan of 4E and if I ever said anything that pissed any 4E fans off, I apologize.

But antagonizing fans for their choice in gaming system is puerile. Let them have their game, you still have yours.

If you feel WotC is hating on you and you have to respond, take it up in a rant thread in the Gamer Life forum or the 3E forum.

Next you have to dye your hair platinum blonde and cry in a yuotube video.

Spoiler:
Remeber the youtube video of a Britney spears fan pleading the media to leave her alone?.

We must all learn to get along, my brothers and sisters. We are all equal in the eyes of the Gygax. Let us throw off the shackles of false differences that the jocks, the preppies, the drama queens, and all the other vile unbelievers try and force upon us and rise up in one great jihad to spread the word of D&D through out this land. I embrace you all, grognard and noob, 3.5 and 4th edition, let us all join together in brotherhood, as children of Gygax and wipe the unbelievers from this land. ;p

I think you miss the point - it's not about pity or comfort. Folks that choose to play 4e simply want to talk about their game of choice without the antagonistic 3e fans throwing rocks and flames.

I think that should apply to anyone playing any rpg really. Sure, a Bella Sara rpg (or nWoD, GURPS, Sorcerer, etc.) might not be for me, but i'm sure there are people that would like to play without being condemned for playing it.

I think we should still condemn F.A.T.A.L. fans. No-one else though.

The True Believers in the Teachings of Gygax only play 1st Edition D&D ;)

Are there F.A.T.A.L. fans? For real?

I don't see anyone condemning 4e fans for what they play. I see people criticizing 4e for what they percieve as flaws in the system. If they feel threatened by comments about the system I don't know what to tell them. Mind you if people are directly attacking a person then that's a different story.

The only hate I see being thrown around is 4e fans accusing anyone who does not like 4e of being stupid, not creative, have not read the books or played the system etc etc. Granted this is all on the WoTC boards which are downright hostile to anyone who doesn't say 4e is the next best thing following sliced bread.

I realize 4e is like many things a personal choice and those will love it and like me there are a percent that will not.

Hope that makes sense..

Yep. The cost of being a 4E fan must be tough...

I mean, not only do you have to buy the WotC stuff, but all of the Goodman Games stuff, etc. must be difficult in these economic times.

The problem is, sometimes 4e fans just want to talk about their game of choice, discussing interpretations of game rules, converting adventures, what their favorite new magic item out of Adventurer's Vault is, etc. They don't want someone to come in and crap all over the thread and make it into a pro-4e vs. anti-4e contest. We've all heard the arguments on both sides ad nauseum - it's time to just settle into one's game of choice and allow others to talk about and appreciate their game in peace.

It's rare someone here (can't say for the WotC boards) gets a hostile answer for not liking 4e. It's the threadcrapping that gets a hostile response. When I'm discussing the merits of the Swordmage with other 4e fans, do I really need someone to come along and tell me I'm throwing all my money into a greedy corporate brainchild?

This is the cyclical nature of editions. 1e fans let us 2e fans have it back in the day, we laid into 3e fans, and now they're firing both barrels at 4e fans. Don't worry. They'll get their chance too. ;-)

And here I thought that this was what the post was about.....imagine my disapointment.

I admit that I'm loking foward to seeing what 5th edition is like. So far, I've only played odd numbered editions.

Kinda the inverse of the Star Trek movie quality thing.

For my personal taste, yes, but nothing against the 4e players (in keeping with the spirit of this thread).

Whimsey Chris Ill have admit ignorance on this front. The only time I see "crapping" on someone's topic its usually a "What is your opinion" or "Do you like this" kind of thread such as the one we are in now. Someone asked opinions on wizards and they have been given as far as I can tell respectfully.

Anyway, my last post off topic. Sorry to derail the train a bit but saw a topic I was actually able to give an opinion on hehe.

At the risk of sounding cavalier, this thread is unneeded. In general, the boards here are very friendly and open. I don't think i have seen anyone attacked for liking 4E in a loooong time. Sure we might still discuss the game and its flaws openly, but that is our right also and is not a personal attack.

I think this thread came bout because a few crusaders on both side like to fight. Eh the anti-4e stuff is low and kinda tame here

There was a time a couple weeks ago, when there seemed to be a resurgence of hostility. Lately, it has tamed down considerably. I agree, for the most part, things are friendly now.

These boards are a breath of fresh air. WoTC boards are stifleing, well except the Forgotten Realms portion. The atmosphere on the realms boards are a bit more akin to here but still too much hostility.

Or he's stirring the pot knowing some knucklehead will post against it....*shrug*

well the surge here was caused by the red dragon "PR" video. As for the wotc realms boreds after the massive banning most the hard core realms players went elsewhere or stopped talking much. I know i was given 3 warning over 1 post..and it wasn't even what I would call a bad post.

But when you nuke a well loved setting that's to be expected
