When will we see the Demodands again?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Liberty's Edge

Since the selfish race of fiends known as the demodands are OGL, I was wondering if Paizo had any plans for them. If you do, will you keep them chaotic evil or make them neutral evil as in the 3e Fiend Folio? I really didn’t see why WotC decided to change them so much. I’d usually see the demodands played with a capricious selfishness that made their chaotic evil distinct from the wild destructiveness that’s the hallmark of the demon.

Could be tricky, since they already have fiends in all flavours. I guess they want to concentrate on devils, daemons and demons. Another D fiend might be too much for the time being.

Grand Lodge

You can never have too many D fiends :)

On the flip side are they going to develop the celestials at all?

I like em.

Carceri always represented to imprisonment aspect of the lower planes. I was always a huge fan of the Gereleth/Demodands.

What about Deodands, from The Dying Earth? I'd like some of those, too, please.

The demodands are in the Great Beyond of Golarion. Dunno what they're doing there yet... but they're there!

We'll get back to folks on them, be sure of it.

The problem is that Apomps the Triple Aspected (their baernaloth creator/god) is tied into the core of their race's goals and identity, and is so very much not OGL, nor would Apomps immediately fit into Golarion's planes as written in Planescape etc. So some manner of reconception to tie them into Golarion's planes and planar history would be required.

I have ideas, but nothing is set in stone at this point. I haven't even talked to James yet about it (though he and Sean will be getting some of it later this week).

Check out the old Arduin Grimoire, Hargrave called them "deodanths" but they are the same beastie and quite fun.

Of course, that isn't OGL or even approaching 3.5e.

I could tell you, but then they'd have to... you know... *panic*

I can't really elaborate, but I can certainly tease and let you know that the law/chaos axis is going to get love as well, and there's some material on them sitting in James and Sean's inbox as of about ten minutes prior to my posting this. And there's stuff on the demodands in what they received as well.

Of course, they might not like it and I'll spiral into a deep, scotch fueled depression, but hopefully not. ;)

Or they will like it and you can descend into a deep, scotch filled celebration. Either way.

Either way, let's break out the scotch. And que the dancing girls.

Mmmmm....scotch
