I recieved my pathfinder beta today, and the package did not contain any padding for the goods within (only one book, in this case). The damage to the book is very minor, but still, with a little padding, this could have been avoided entirely. As I also had this with the PFCS and the other books included in that shipment, I ask you to look into your standards of packaging the books if they come in a box.
I don´t need a replacement or anything, but if I get new books, I want them to look new, as I´m very fussy about my books.
I noticed positively that the PF beta needed just under two weeks to reach me - quite speedy, I think.

Same book, same problem.
I don´t need a replacement either, you were more than generous with the replacement of the Campaign Setting.
What I just don’t understand. Why do you invest hundreds of dollars in replacement books instead of some cents in padding material to prevent all the damage?

I'll mention these problems to the guys in the warehouse and tell them to get some more packing materials in there!
One problem that might have caused there to not be much packing material in the box is that we couldn't go over the 4 pound weight limit without the cost to ship go sky high! A 4.0 package to Europe might cost $12 or so. If it goes to 4.1 pounds, the price goes up to near $30! So if the weight was near 4 pounds, we skimped on the packing in order to keep it at 4 pounds or less so the shipping price wasn't huge. This only affects international shipping though.

Yeah, I hear that. Part of my job involves being a small shipping department, and you can definitely see when a package edges over into the next weight or size category. Ugh.

Lisa, thanks for responding and looking into it. I see the problem with shipping costs, and jumping from 12$ to 30$ for shipping just because of better padding just won´t work for me. The only solution for this would be splitting packages over 4 pounds into two shipments, which would mean even more work for the paizo crew. But I guess that of all shipments I recieved over the past few years, only the one with the Green Ronin books came over four pounds, so it gets only relevant for bigger orders containing several fat books. There seems to be no easy solution to this.

I've been meaning to say something about this for awhile now, as almost every shipment I get has dog-eared books in it. The Beta was fine, but it was the exception. Most of my Pathfinders and Chronicles are slightly dog-eared-- including the beloved and expensive Campaign Setting. I'm happy to see that you will be doing something about this. Thanks, Lisa!

Same thing with my Pathfinder Beta (and the other books in the shipment). It looks like the books were put into a box that was slightly larger than the size of the books. So as the box was jostled during shipping, the corners of the box were smashed, and thus the corners of the books inside got smashed. And I'm a stickler for keeping books in a pristine condition.
Otherwise, I was happy that my order had processed, shipped and been received in a quick manner.
Thanks, Lisa, for looking into this. The whole Paizo crew rocks!

Yes. That's exactly what happens with almost every package I get. I should note that it has never been more than ONE corner that has gotten tweaked. And I should also note that I haven't gotten a single Planet Stories book with this problem, because they are smaller than the rest of the products in the package.

Chaosium wraps their books in brown paper, and then double encloses them, first in USPS Priority Mail envelopes, then in a second envelope or a box.
I have never received a damaged book from them, even though the outer package might be crushed or damaged.
The USPS materials are free, and the Post Office will deliver bulk orders to your office for free (which I'm sure you already know).
Chaosium also offers free domestic shipping on orders over $60, and free international shipping on orders over $125...
I'm just saying, is all...
