Beta zip failing to unpack

I couldn't find an appropriate board for this, so I suppose General is as good a place as any.

I DLed the beta, but when I unpack the zip it gives me an empty folder. I'm pretty sure I DLed the full file, as the zip is the appropriate size. Help?

I thought there was a folder inside the folder, but I might be misremembering.

You're seeing absolutely nothing in the folder?

You're seeing absolutely nothing in the folder?

That would be an accurate description of my problem.

This is a WinXP PC, should that matter. (That should mean I'm not having the problem because i'm using something obscure like Linux at the various least).


If there is a better forum for this thread, could someone direct me there? Or does anyone have a solution? Eek eek?

I had this problem then upgraded to Firefox 3 and it worked fine.

I fail to see how this is a browser issue...

The unpacking takes a lot less time than it should, and produces an empty folder. That would appear to be a problem with the zip file.

Erm wish I could help you but short of suggesting you redownlading the file (which youve probably done) theres not much else I can suggest. Well except maybe try downloading from a diffrent computer or a friends if possible and transfer the data over.

Edit: As for suitable forum I would say its a product problem so customer service would be your best bet but if you ask and wait long enough im fairly certain a member of staff will transfer the topic for you

Huh, never had a problem before....

I found an inelegant solution. Windows has a utility that lets me look in a zip file without unzipping the files (well, it has to unzip temporarily to let you look, which is why this works). I copied this and pasted them into a folder. But ew.

I'm just telling you how I fixed it.

No one could figure out why it happened before... and many people have had the same problem and used this solution.

Try it before critiquing it.

But your work around works.. so it's solved for you.

Have you updated/installed any new software recently? Sometimes changes/additions of software can affect other programs even when at first glance you wouldent think they would.
