Illogical events (spoiler)

Curse of the Crimson Throne

I’m working on the Pathfinder #8 and I find that the succession of the events are not logical. I want to mean that, if I think in the place of my party, at the moment they’ll find the boat and the clues against Physicians’ Queen, there is no reason for them to be interested in find a “bard” varisian, even if I know that it’s important but I know that they would want to go immediately to the Physicians.
According to me, and knowing my party (that they don’t really like to be send to make missions for Cressida (even if they like her) but they don’t like to be guards (because they think about it like policemen). So I want to make play that event before sending them to the boat so event go to the sewer.
What do you think about that idea?
Moreover, I think that to go to lavender is not really interesting, and I’m searching ideas to make only one story between vampires and lavender. Do you have any idea for me?
Thanks a lot!

As long as you think the PCs can handle that encounter earlier in the sequence, go right ahead and change when those events happen. The early events are rather general encounters that serve as the backdrop to showcase the devastation of the plague. They can happen at any time.
