So I had this idea, maybe someone has brought it up before or maybe it's a bad idea...
Turn stat boost into boost dice, like action points, and add static bonuses for anything non-d20.
Make 3 or 4 levels of boosts:
Power Level / Current Stat Bonus / New Bonus to d20 / New non-d20 Bonus
Lesser / +2 / +1d4 / +1
Average / +4 / +1d6 / +2
Greater / +8 / +1d8 / +4
A couple of examples to illustrate the concept
You receive an Average STR Boost, this means you get a d6 to all you Str checks, including attack rolls, and +2 to all your melee damage rolls.
You receive a Lesser CON Boost, this means an 1d4 bonus to all CON based checks, including Saves, and 1 HP / level.
Your cleric receives a Greater CHA Boost, and he is turning an undead, he add +1d8 to his turn check, and +4 bonus to the roll to see how many HD he can affect.
You may think this is like relocating the problem, and it's true, but most people is familiar with concept of action points and many poeple enjoy rolling extra dice.
