No familiar for the sorcerer anymore?

General Discussion (Prerelease)

i was just reading the sorcerer & noticed they dont get a familiar anymore.
i personally dont like that, but to each their own
so far i think the bloodlines are kinda a neat idea, when i get to play one soon, ill know more about how they play out

Grand Lodge

The Arcane Bloodline gives you the option of a familliar.

It seems that the socerer is supposed to be more melee combat orianted with their blood line abilities, and getting those bloodlines would leave your familiar quite open to being killed.

Liberty's Edge

The sorcerer in our group is still using a familiar and has the fey bloodline. I just referenced the familiar rules in the wizard section.

As LaserX said, with the Arcane Bloodline you can preserve your old sorcerer unchanged with just a few extra abilities.

Well, if they're killing your Familiar instead of you while you're in melee combat, it's not useless :-)

(of course, the Arcane Bloodline ISN'T particularly melee inclined, and it's the only one that has a Familiar)

If I was converting a 3.5 Sorceror NPC, I would by default give them the Arcane Bloodline.
