I was rather disappointed to notice that dwarves are now relegated to the "service industry" as professionals rather than craftsmen. I think that this is a vast departure from the traditional role of dwarves and I'm not sure that giving dwarves a racial bonus to craft (even if it is only Craft/Stone)) is overpowering.
Through the ages and in much traditional mythology dwarves are craftsmen who work with their hands producing fine items.
Even the description on Page 8 states: "Dwarves have a love for earth and stone, making them fine stonemasons and expert miners."
Is there some thought that stonemasons aren't craftsmen?
Please restore the racial craft/stone and craft/metal to dwarves.
Thanks.

Agreed. My first thought when I saw the bonus to Professions related to stone was a hope that Craft and Profession had been combined, but sadly, not. I'll be bringing that idea back up at an appropriate time, but for now, it really does seem odd that the bonus is to Profession and not to Craft.

I think Craft isn't mentioned because Craft is already a class skill for all of the core classes. Presumably, the designers assumed that saying dwarves treat Craft as a class skill would be redundant.
However... This is assuming that all prestige classes and all non-core base classes have Craft as a class skill, which is not the case. So, I definitely think Craft needs to be added back into the description of stonecunning. It needs to be there for completeness, and to allow dwarves to properly interact with non-core rules.

While a Craft skill represents ability in creating
or making an item, a Profession skill represents an aptitude in a
vocation requiring a broader range of less specific knowledge.
mmm mmm
undecidedi do understand the fact that they are supposed to be in nrose mythology the greatest Crafters of metal and stone... but i also see that in the little "craft" we see in "Craft" there is nothing mentioned about doing things either in stone (except metal, swords and armor, i do remember they being excellent in this)
but what would not be overpowered?
i woudl give them the bonus either on crafting metal items or giving them the bonus profession skill, but not both, lets them choose.
