Thought I should report this, although the problem is probably on my end:
I was replying to a post and then realized I didn't want to post my reply. I was using tabbed browsing, but my reply was not in a new tab. I clicked the close button on my browser, and then clicked the "cancel post" button.
(Not 100% sure about that order, might be the other way around).
What happened was amusing and frustrating, as Internet Explorer started an endless loop of opening new tabs to display my cancelled post - I had to terminate IE to get the problem to stop.

I honestly can't imagine why that would happen. Unless you can repeat it, I'd personally chalk it up to "computers are just funny like that sometimes."
This used to happen to me, too. In my case, I thought that Internet Explorer and McAfee's antivirus program were trying to kill each other. It stopped after I switched to Firefox and Defender Pro.
