how does a klar work with the two weapon defense feat?Since shield bonuses don't stack with shield bonuses, you'd take the higher of the two bonuses and ignore the rest. In other words... if you're good fighting with klars, you don't really need Two Weapon Defense.
Well if you use a klar as a weapon, you lose its shield AC bonus. If you had two weapon defense, you could still get a shield AC bonus, when you used it as an off-hand weapon.
I would not suggest using it as a weapon on your off-hand though, it being a one-hand weapon and not a light weapon. It would probably be better to use a light spiked shield and take improved shield bash. That way you are using a light weapon in your off-hand, reducing the TWF penalties, you can use it while grappled or swallowed, and with improved shield bash you can keep the shield AC bonus from it.
I just assumed it was the same as having a spiked shield???
Well, I looked at the entry again and it says, "For the purposes of penalties on attack rolls, treat a klar as a light weapon." So I guess it works fine for two-weapon fighting, though I wonder, why not just make it a light weapon?
