Crafting: Did I miss it?

Skills & Feats

Didn't see a post, so sorry if this is a duplicate.

Looking through the skills, I was curious how Pathfinder was going to handle Crafting. I have a character that's an Alchemist in 3.5, so was hoping that Pathfinder would smooth out the crafting process a bit.

Well, it doesn't seem to be in the initial PDF, unless I just missed it, anyone have any information on this? ..or has it just not been added yet.

My character is a rogue, who in the 3.5 rules, couldn't actually craft alchemists fire, acid, and other sorts of things, which in our opinion, is just silly. My DM waved that addition in the rule, I'm hoping it doesn't appear in the Pathfinder, as there's a decent chance we will be switching to it here in the future.

What do you mean by "My DM waved that addition in the rule" ?
If your DM decides you can concoct acids, alchemical fire, poison or whatever, then you can.
If he decides you can't, well, you can't.
Talk with your DM. Rules exist but they are not carved into stone. They can be changed.
I personally allow the creation of potions, acids or other stuff with Craft/Alchemy, the same way i allow the creation of scrolls or items with the appropriate crafting skill.
Everything is a matter of game balance, time involvement, cost and crafting DC.
I don't put the associated feats as requirements, but they give substencial bonus and reduce the time and cost.

Liberty's Edge

If the skill was not changed in the Alpha 3 document, then you are supposed to assume it has remained the same. So unless Beta has chanhged this, the requirement should still be present.

That being said, a number of people have already voiced similar concerns. Whether Jason has noticed it and reacted will have to wait till August to be determined.

Has anyone looked into updating the rules for crafting time? It works fairly well for mundane items, but breaks down for more exotic/expensive stuff (the reason a PC would heavily invest in the skill in the first place). I don't think that it should take someone who wanted to make their own adamantine full-plate some two years of non-stop work to make it.
