Chuol |

Over the course of the days that pass, Chuol will tend to his work as a deckhand, but during a suitable break period, he will seek out the others who fought with him the night before and try to start up a conversation with them.
"I be wonderin', what is it dat brings you warriors onto dis boat goin' so deep in Mother Mwangi's heart? She be very dangerous, and not one to trifle wit'."
I'll make my Fort saves when I get home tonight.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

Nothing happens the fourth morning.
The heat is unbearable.
That afternoon, the ship breaks down.
"I told ya she'd blow if I gave ya more power," Hurg complains loudly.
This counts as excitement.
It takes Hurg three hours to fix it.
This does give you a chance to find out a little more about the engine. One of the crewmen mentions a magical organism called an 'arcophage' that serves as a power source.
The engine recharges.
The boat continues.
The heat is unbearable.
The monotony returns.

Sykala |

Sykala seems much like Fippin not the least bit unconvenienced by the heat and humidity. Unlike, the crew that seems to be aching for something, ANYTHING to happen she seems to be enjoying every second on the river. She constantly points out various forms of vegetation and wildlife to anyone who takes an interest. Looking toward the wreckage, "You can not fight river, must listen to what it say. Think ship mighty, but only twig floating along." She says to the captain with a questioning look while pointing toward the 'Lady Fortune', "You get stuff from wreck to heal boat if we wreck too?"
Ixius:
Tarren, Sykala will be using her survival skill to keep herself fed as well as anyone else who wishes to eat fish(she spears them), bugs, and plants. She also keeps an eye on the weather looking out for more storms and such and will give people bonuses to checks in severe weather. (this is all under the survival skill).

Ixius |

Ixius sets up his chest to work on Keliwyn's bow.
Craft (bowmaking) check (1d20+9=25)
I'll check the Craft rules when I get home, but I think that should be sufficient to make a longbow in a few days
Sykala:

Keliwyn of Korvosa |

That's five sets of fortitude rolls, correct?
That's a total of 49 hp of damage due to heat. Can anybody help a brother out?
The heat takes a very heavy toll on Keliwyn. He is strips to his undershorts and spends almost all of his time in the cabin, wondering what he did to deserve such a fate. He hopes, fervently, that his companions will not let him die in such a forgotten place on the map.

Chuol |

Day 1 (1d20+9=26, 1d20+9=17) Chuol takes 3 points of damage
Day 2 (1d20+9=21, 1d20+9=24)
Day 3 (1d20+9=11, 1d20+9=22) Chuol takes 4 points of damage
Day 4 (1d20+9=12, 1d20+9=19) Chuol takes 4 points of damage
Day 5 (1d20+9=16, 1d20+9=19) Chuol takes 1 points of damage
Chuol will use Lay on Hands on himself and his allies as often as required to lessen the symptoms of heatstroke/sunburns. He can provide 16hp of healing every day except Day 2, where he can provide his full 20hp of healing. If necessary, Chuol will expend uses of Channel Positive Energy in order to keep the crew in the positives as well, totally 4d6 healing per day.
Chuol swelters in the heat, but being somewhat accustomed to it, does not complain so much. He continues minding his tasks. Upon seeing the pain Keliwyn is going through, he gives special attention to the elf.
To Keliwyn: "Dis jungle be hotter dan you're used to, I bet. Where ya from?"

Sykala |

On the fifth day Sykala comes to Keliwyn in his delirium, "You look like you not want be here. Why you come? You happier in city." Her blue eyes looking searchingly into his. She intones a prayer to Gozreh and casts Endure Elements on him and he can feel the smothering blanket of heat disapate. For the first time in days he can breath easily. "Gozreh watch over you now, rest." She'll continue to cast it on him daily now.
Tarren, can I use Survival to affect this in some way?
Don't forget you recover 4 hp each night also. So Chuol wouldn't even need to actually heal himself. Looks like we have 48 hours to chat amongst ourselves (gonna go into withdrawal). Sykala can also make a relatively easy heal check so people recover 8hp/8hours or 16hp/day rest if things get to bad for people (she can do that for up to 6 people at a time). She is not doing it now because she is actually enjoying the trip and doesn't really want to be stuck watching over patients.

Ixius |

In the cabin, working on Keliwyn's longbow.
The Craft rules seem really goofy to me. According to my calculations, with a roll of 25 against a DC of 12, Ix is still less than halfway done with the bow in a week. The lower the DC for the item, the longer it takes to make.

Chuol |

Chuol will spend most of his time working away with the other deckhands. On breaks, however, he will be in the cabin, resting, chatting here and there.

I'm not sure if it was core (and it's probably not in PFAlpha in any case), but they eventually allowed you to voluntarily raise the DC of a craft check in order to speed up production. Everything else would remain the same, but you could increase the DC by increments of 5 or 10, I believe.

Sykala |

Seeing Fippin's interest in the surroundings Sykala is more than happy to talk about, point out various plants and animals with him, and discuss thier behaviors. She'll also get into a friendly fishing competition (she uses spear fishing) with him and gives advice on what bait to use if he's into it.

This makes much more sense to me.

We should add it as a playtest note to make sure it gets attention before the final release. I'd like the Craft rules to make sense. :)

Keliwyn of Korvosa |

In response to Choul and Skyala's inquires, Keliwyn explains that his true home is the Mierani Forest, north of the lost coast, although he has spent the last number of years living in Korvosa.
Keliwyn is grateful for his companions care, healing and spells alike. Although he spends the first five days largely incapacitated in the cabin, once he is feeling better he can be found all over the place, wandering the boat and speaking with everyone. He spends some time with Ixius, discussing bowmaking and archery, and can also be found on the bow, watching the scenery go bye.

Baas |

It is part of core, btw: You may voluntarily add +10 to the indicated DC to craft an item. This allows you to create the item more quickly (since you’ll be multiplying this higher DC by your Craft check result to determine progress). You must decide whether to increase the DC before you make each weekly or daily check.
Day 1 (1d20 7=24, 1d20 7=11) 9 points in th afternoon
Day 2 (1d20 7=16, 1d20 7=23)
Day 3 (1d20 7=15, 1d20 7=23)
Day 4 (1d20 7=15, 1d20 7=18) 2 points in the afternoon
Day 5 (1d20 7=9, 1d20 7=13) 6 points in the morning, 7 in the evening.
I'd let Asmodeus provide me counsel to get out of this bug-infested inferno Baas swears to Keliwyn during a game of Towers.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

Ahead of you, the river turns and narrows. An ancient, moss covered statue of mammoth proportions have forced the river to turn. The trees at this bend, hang over the river creating a tunnel like effect.
"Lots of those statues in the jungle ... No one seems to know who made 'em or why. They're older than memory," says Esteban. Waving to the tunnel ahead formed by the trees he says "You'll be seeing a lot of that soon. The river narrows near Whitebridge and starts to look like this all the way along."

Sykala |

Stunned by the wonder of it all, Sykala watches the river wend its way through a tunnel made from the very living trees in awe. "Not dream this exist", she says under her breath. Looking upon the ruins of the statue she reaffirms for herself that nature will always reclaim the land no matter what people try and carve from it.

Keliwyn of Korvosa |

I'd let Asmodeus provide me counsel to get out of this bug-infested inferno Baas swears to Keliwyn during a game of Towers.
"Ha!" Keliwyn laughs, "I know a a few clerics of the First Lord. Lacking in any sense of humor, they'd probably see your comment as blaphemous." As they pass the statute and go through the living tunnel, Keliwyn falls silent and keeps his moving, scanning over everything.

Chuol |

"If ever you be needin' some help, you just be askin' Chuol! I be glad to help!"

Sykala |

Creatures hiding and watching can either mean they are frightened and hiding or an ambush. She points to the trees forming the arch and says, "eyes in trees!" She holds a gust of wind spell in case they shoot arrows at her or try and come aboard (unleashing it at first hostile action-60' foot line effect).

Baas |

Waving to the tunnel ahead formed by the trees he says "You'll be seeing a lot of that soon. The river narrows near Whitebridge and starts to look like this all the way along."
These are extraordinary. They remind me of the statues of old Varasia.
"Ha!" Keliwyn laughs, "I know a a few clerics of the First Lord. Lacking in any sense of humor, they'd probably see your comment as blaphemous."
"Who was joking?" he groans as he smacks a bug on his neck. "It looks like you beat me again. Another ga.." Baas is interrupted by Fippin's yelling. He hesitates for a moment thinking it could be a joke or jumpiness...but then the potential of a threat becomes a bit more real and he scampers for his weapon and tries to discern where Sykala is.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

As the boat moves under the branches eight greyish-green furred monkey like creatures leap from the trees. A gust of wind emanating from Sykala blows two of the creatures into the river. A third bounces off the mosquito netting covering the pilot house, cabin, and covered cargo area and joins those in the water.
Three of the keches bounce off the netting to land on the front of the boat. Two of them land at the rear. All three creatures that landed at the front move on Sperrago immediately surrounding him.
Baas -- in the covered cargo area
Fippin -- cargo area near paddlewheel
Sykala -- on the bow
Danner -- in the covered cargo area
Sperrago -- in the covered cargo area
Keliwn -- in the cabin
Ixius -- Covered cargo area
Chuol -- Behind Cabin
Keches

Fippin |

Fippin should have been able to grab his quiver during the surprise round, so I'm assuming he has it on his back.
Round #1- Fippin Picks up his bow (move action), teleports into the elevated pilot cabin (minor action), and he tosses Faruq his bow and the string (standard action).
"Esteban we've got some trouble. Faruq string my bow, I'm likely going to be casting a spell."

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

The three creatures at the front of the boat throw objects at Danner who begins to scream and twist about trying to pull the objects off of him. Then, all three pounce on Sperrago tearing him to shreds.
Chuol is caught alone behind the cabin. The two keches there throw vipers at him but the vipers do not manage to bite him this round. The apelike creatures do not attack him yet preferring to give the vipers a chance to do their job.
ROUND TWO
Baas -- in the covered cargo area
Fippin -- on the topdeck near the pilothouse
Sykala -- on the bow
Danner -- in the covered cargo area
Sperrago -- in the covered cargo area
Keliwn -- in the cabin
Ixius -- Covered cargo area
Chuol -- Behind Cabin
Keches
If you would have had opportunity to move and attack in Round 1, please make those attacks now in round 2 as well as your round 2 attacks. Looking at the boat, decide where you were, how far you moved, and whether you were still allowed a standard action. Note: anyone with a +1 BAB can draw their weapon for free if they are wearing it.

Faruq grins and begins stringing the bow.

Ixius |

Round 1
"Axasthyx Dilaxthys!"
Ixius casts shocking grasp then moves to a flanking position behind one of the creatures attacking Sperrago.
Round 2 (full attack)
Touch attack (1d20+5=14), Electrical damage (3d6=10)
Claw attack (1d20+5=13), Claw damage (1d6+2=7), Sneak attack damage (1d6=1)

Sykala |

Tarren:
Augmented Hippogryphs claws (1d20+6=11, 1d4+6=9, 1d20+6=16, 1d4+6=10)
Augmented hippogryphs bite (1d20+3=13, 1d8+4=8)

Keliwyn of Korvosa |

Through the cabin door, Keliwyn sees the monkey like creatures drop to the the deck around his new friend. "Choul!" he yells as he drops his bow and quiver, draws his blades and moves through the door to attack the nearest target.
1d20=8+5=13 attack, 1d6=4+1=5 damage, 1d20=11+5=16 attack, 1d4=3+1=4 damage

Sykala |

Fippin notes in his head that these creatures still haven't taken any overtly hostile actions against the party, and yet we are already trying to kill them.
Apparently your definition and mine on hostile actions differ quite a bit. When a creature tears a crew member into bloody shreds and throw vipers at another party member, I call that hostile. ;-p

Chuol |

Seeing Keliwyn approaching the creatures from the other side, Chuol takes advantage of the distraction, ignoring the vipers, and focusing on the strange creatures attacking him. His eyes unfocus for a moment as he concentrates and he allows his spear-arm to guide itself to the target, relying upon years of training as well as no small amount of faith in order to strike home.
Attacking the nearest kech with his trident, activating Smite Evil
Attack Roll: (1d20+8=26)
Damage Roll: (1d8+4=8)
Possible Modifiers: +2 attack for flanking, +3 attack for smite evil, +4 damage for smite evil.

Tarren the Dungeon Master |

Ixius manages to get his hands on one of the pygmy keches -- and you will soon learn that is what they are called -- and gives it a zap. His claws, however, do not penetrate its bristly fur.
A creature with the hindquarters of a horse and the claws and head of a giant eagle seems to come out of nowhere and joins in the fray near the covered cargo area. It manages to get a claw into one of the keches.
One of the vipers, slithers towards Ixius and bites him. 0 damage but fort. save vs. poison please.
The keches at the front cargo area finish off Sperrago. He dies without getting a chance to strike back. Danner fares better, stabbing one with a spear before they turn on him.
The mosquito netting around the covered cargo area is getting torn to shreds and does not interfere with anyone's attacks, nor does it provide any protection.
On the back of the boat, Keliwyn stabs at one of the creatures attacking Chuol. Chuol, on the other side of the same creature, skewers it with his trident but it is still alive.
In Keliwyn's rush to help Chuol, he does not notice the two vipers lurking nearby. One of them manages to bite his ankle. 0 damage but fort. save vs. poison please.
The pygmy kech skewered by Chuol's trident slashes in vain. The other one, however, gets both claws in and tears away at his flesh. 8 points of damage.
Faruq tosses Fippin back his bow with a grin saying "Your bow, your highness."
Baas is still looking around for something to hit.
ROUND THREE
Baas -- in the covered cargo area
Fippin -- topdeck
Sykala -- on the bow
Danner -- in the covered cargo area
Keliwn -- Behind Cabin
Ixius -- Covered cargo area
Chuol -- Behind Cabin
