No problem at all, Jereth.
And in case you already read my response, I made a small edit to it. Just added a link on Ameiko's name to a picture of her. Its not the official one from the book, but a fan created one that I think captures her look a bit better.
I'll try and spice up my posts with a lot of pictures to give you guys better visuals of things. Has been a while since I've done a play by post, so I am still getting in the hang of it again, which is why I had to edit after having forgotten the first time.

It simply refers to her as 'certainly an attractive young woman' and doing a search for her name through the pdf, thats all I come up with. So I can piece together a real quick description for her here that just happens to be improvised.
Shayliss Vinder is a lovely young woman in her late teens of Chelish decent, holding the straight dark hair and sharp features of her ancestry. She stands about 5 and a half feet tall with hair down to the small of her back and a penchant for wearing flowing dresses of the Varisian style, much to her fathers disapproval. She usually appears a quiet girl, with a broad winning smile and brown eyes that gleam with a mischief not shown outwardly.

I beleive that the way it works is this. If it is a class skill and you put points in it, thus becoming trained, then you add the extra +3 instead of the normal +1. If it isn't a class skill then you are still trained in its' use but it is simply a +1 bonus for every skill rank placed in that skill.
Does that help?

Here is the blurb that is confusing me from the alpha:
Skill Check is Equal To:
Untrained: 1d20 + Ability modifier + racial modifier
Trained: 1d20 + Skill ranks + ability modifier +
racial modifier
Trained Class Skill: 1d20 + Skill ranks + ability modifier +
racial modifier + 3
whats a racial modifier?

Jereth,
If you've created an account on Invisible Castle, all you need to do is go to the die roller page here type in your character name and what you want to roll. The next page will provide you to links, both to just the single die roll and also to a history of the characters rolls. Just clicking on one of those will copy it to your clipboard so you can past it here.
If you aren't sure how to make a link in the forum, that info is right here:

Tamai: Neat you're guarding the forest I originally came from. That will make it interesting. I'll have to work into my story when we meet that I know, or know of you. Living among Nymphs in the woodlands I think we may even opportunities for fleeting encounters.
The gnome village in the forest is said to have a portal to the realm of the Fey... goes well with your background, we may have stumbled across each other in the forest (you don't have a staff carved with really cool markings all over it do you?)

Tamai and Dannie,
I think that it would be great if you two have at least passing knowledge of each other. Once Jinn is on to pose tonight, I suspect he is going to end up over at Hannahs and so the party will be in two groups(who happen to be near each other) when the festivities start. It will add a lot to bringing the two teams together if there is already a connection between them, beyond 'we seem to be much better fighters then normal townsfolk'.

In the table top game I play this char, I did come from said portal and was a true fae. I limited my background a bit, but kept the 'living with fae' that came through the portal and found me dead in the forest. (way to go guardian! :P)
How cool.
edit: Ya sure DM, I think i can give him a free pass to be included in my back story. He can be kinda like a co-worker, never really had a long conversation, but had a few run ins where we helped each other out so we know we are both forest-y 'good guys'.

Dannie, are you making up your sylvan translations as you go, or do you have some translator site? since I'm pretty sure gnomes get it as a natural language, I figured I would ask before I reinvented the wheel
I'm bouncing between 2 sites, and occasionally making up words if theres none that fit.
I try to use:
http://wiki.avlis.org/Template:Fey_language
first unless there is no word then I look at:
http://home.netcom.com/%7Eheensle/lang/elvish/quenya/engquen.html
Some words I can't find on either so it's best guess, but i plan to keep track of made up words.
Also, Sylvan may be a language you can get as a bonus, but I don't think it's free/natural. Could be wrong in alpha...(I used my +1 int to learn it on top of my free ones.)

Thank you for the information. I have now officially registered. I'll nose around and try to make everything work before I need to roll again.
Invisible castle works great for me
i like that I can do complex rolls like 1d4*2-1 etc if needed, granted I can do that if I wrote a perl script, but this has the convenience of providing a verification link url.I dig it.

From the Alpha 3:
Gnomes begin play speaking Common,
Gnome, and Sylvan. Gnomes with high Intelligence scores
can choose any of the following: Draconic, Dwarven, Elven,
Giant, Goblin, and Orc.

Edit1: oh wait...wow OK free. damn. You just out fae'd me. I demand paizo grant eles sylvan then! A gnome more fae than an elf, thats not right!
Edit2 : just read gnomes alpha. neat. Well your kinda on the 'harmless list' for Dannie then. Being down with the fae and all. Thats something i glazed right over apparently.

I am not concerned about standard ammo, though I would have you keep track of magical and special material ammo.
As for weight, I only consider it an issue if your character starts to really load yourself up. If you are a few pounds over medium load, then it isn't a big deal to me and we can just estimate.

I just realized that we have the two paranoid goblin hating rangers sitting there in discussion with each other. I can only imagine what is going to come of this.
-Tarlane
and gnome is the perfect race for it too- didn't relize it but gnomes have natural haterred for goblinoids and have +1 to attack on them, plus favored enemy goblinoids...

Also, for those of you who use the form fillable pdfs, there is a program called 'foxit reader' that is freely available and works much like the acrobat reader, only it allows you to save edited files.
If anyone is interested I can track down a link to it again.
