Recharging items?

Liberty's Edge

One of the things about 3rd Edition in general that really aggravated me was the elimination of recharging to magic items with a set number of charges. (The other was level adjustments for nonstandard PC races instead of a slow progression of racial abilities to keep them at par with their colleagues, but that's neither here nor there.) I've tried the following method to fix this. (I fully realize that this is such a minor rule it won't affect 90% of all campaigns, but I've seen too many people get really emotionally attached to their wands and such to want them to be TOTALLY expendable.)

Repairing items. Using the repairing magic items rules to restore charges to an item for 1/10th the cost keeps every charge as counting against the total treasure value each character has, but doesn't totally make a trusted item die after losing its last charge. It's like buying ammo, which I kind of like. Thoughts?
