"Focused Specialist" Alternate Class Feature

I've persuaded the players in my Rise of the Runelords campaign to convert their characters to Pathfinder RPG.

One of them is a Conjurer/Master Specialist with several alternate class features. Two of those are from Unearthed Arcana (Rapid Summoning, Enhanced Summoning) and are easy to adapt, the third one, Focused Specialist from Complete Mage is a bit more difficult though, so I'd like to get your opinions.

Basically the Feature lets you choose a third prohibited school and you also give up one spell slot per spell level. In return you get two extra spell slots for your special school. So if you'd normally have 4+1 spells at some spell level, you'd get 3+3 instead.

My take on the Pathfinder RPG version of the feature would look like this:

FOCUSED SPECIALIST
Class: Wizard
Level: 1st
Special Requirement: You must be a specialist wizard.
Replaces: You lose one spell slot from each level of wizard spells you can cast. If you later gain the ability to cast higher level wizard spells, you lose one spell slot from each new level of spells you can cast. You must also choose another prohibited school of magic.
Benefit: As long as you do not prepare any spells from one of your prohibited schools, you can prepare two additional spells of your specialty school per spell level each day. This benefit doesn't apply to spells gained from classes other than wizard.

Does that sound right? Maybe someone has a better idea? Thanks for your feedback.

I've been thinking about this also since I was considering using it for my next character.

It sounds about right to me. it results in a net +1 spell/level/day, and two of those spells need to be from your specialist school.

Separate note: Have you noticed that specialists do not need to memorize any splls from their school? You could be an abjurer with no abjuration spells memorized.

I have noticed that, but then, a PFRPG specialist doesn't get an extra slot especially for that.

I think my version is a bit less powerful than the original because I made it so that you only get the extra slots if you do not prepare spells from a prohibited school, but you still lose a slot even if you do. Or is that too harsh?

Another way to do it could be like this:

Replaces: You must choose another prohibited school of magic.
Benefit: As long as you do not prepare any spells from one of your prohibited schools, you can prepare an additional spells of your specialty school per spell level each day. This benefit doesn't apply to spells gained from classes other than wizard.

This results in the same net amount of spell slots, but is less restrictive.
