Multiple Deities and Clerics, Any Issues?

I have a player who wants to start as a cleric of Sarenrae and the multiclass into a paladin of Iomedae while still serving Sarenrae. Does anyone see problems with this? I have not found any thing in the rules that would forbid it.

If the gods are natural allies, or one being a mentor to the other (like Torm and Tyr were in Forgotten Realms) then it shouldn't be an issue. Otherwise the character is going to have to choose a single diety for both and go through the appropriate process for a cleric falling from one diety to another, if applicable.

You can't be a cleric of one diety and a paladin of another... unless you're willing to be a fallen cleric and lose all your cleric abilities. If you want to remain a cleric, the character will have to redeem him/herself to the new diety he's becoming a paladin of to get his cleric abilities back.

Forgotten Realms isn't a very good example because it's gods are weird, you have choatic clerics with paladins and other strange rules that alter core rules.

Scarab Sages

If your player is willing to roleplay the change and be serious about it, I say go for it. Theyre both good gods, effectively on the same side. Though I would put it as a conversion, not a "worship both" kind of thing.

It's an obvious transition for an adventurer, really-- fater seeing the horrors of evil for so long, some will want to take the fight TO the enemy, and that's far more Iomedae's schtick than Sarenrae. I'd let the character start the paladin path, but work an adventure around her "proving herself", effectively having to do a kind of atonement quest in order to access all her paladin abilities.

It's a FANTASTIC RP opportunity, if you run it right. But I think it should be a full-on conversion, not a dual-deity situation.
