I also wouldn't mind if they'd allow the Fighter to Specialize in groups, rather than just single weapons, in which case you could allow the other classes to specialize in that single weapon.
That way anyone could be a master of a single weapon, but only the fighter could be a master with any weapon.

I notice that the fighter's training is designed by Weapon Groups, not individual weapons. This is similar to the Weapon Group Proficiency feat in the UA. I hope this is the route that Paizo is taking as opposed to just gaining a proficiency in one type of weapon
Alpha 3 weapon groups do not grant proficiency, as opposed to the UA weapon groups. Both weapon group systems are incompatible and have very different game effects. We cannot have simultaneously a Simple/Martial/Exotic Weapon Proficiency (specific weapon) feat and a Weapon Group Proficiency feat.
Using UA-style weapon groups requires that we remove all simple, martial, exotic proficiencies from Alpha 3 and give weapon-group based proficiencies to all classes.

I don't see why. All this does is replace the more cumbersome Weapon Proficiency that only accounts for one weapon. Someone trained in using a shortbow should have acquired knowledge that would transfer to a longbow. That's all this would do.
