Baern Stonehammer |

Initiative: 1d20+1=12
Baern straps on his shield and walks into the room, drawing his axe as he goes.

Thelix Moody |

Thelix takes a moment to ask for the protection of Gorum (Shield of Faith), then tries to step up to engage "Spider Man" if possible without evoking an AoO. If not possible, he will attack the nearest thug between him and his target.
"Now for some real combat". "Gorum guide my sword", Thelix yells.

Inros Har |

Init 1d20+3=11
Inros pulls out his bow and readies an action. He will shoot at Theruska's sparring partner as soon as they are a safer distance apart (not tied together or one of them prone with the other standing)

Init Order-Sarastal
Thelix
Theruska
Baern
Inros
Big Man
Yselle
Devargo
Thugs
Tossing some Riddleport sand in the air and a few words, Sarastal points in the direction of the three thugs sending her spell at them. Two of the three slump to the ground while the third shakes off Sarastal's spell rubbing his eyes to stay awake. Snores from the two can be heard over the sounds off battle. With a shout Thelix lunges into battle ready to engage the boss of this spider infested boat. Under his breath he asks for Gorum protection and casts aside a bit of holy text for Gorum's battle book. A shimmering field of protection envelops him as he strides into battle. Seeing things get worse all of a sudden, Theruska changes tactics and grabs for the knife catching the big man off guard by the move. With knife in hand he cuts the strap with no problem freeing himself to battle the big man unhindered.
The events in the room take a turn to the worst, with weapons drawn and curses shouted at each other Baern decides it time to step into the room with shield and axe at the ready. Inros quickly draws his bow out and readies his shot at the big man. He lets loose as soon as Theruska bends down to grab the knife striking the giant in the arm which causes him to be further distracted and grab the arrow instead of worring about the man in front of him cutting the strap holding them together. A dagger flies through the air from the hand of Yselle and sails past Thelix and then Devargo to finally end its flight into Devargo's throne. Devargo ducks the passing dagger and throws a punch at Thelix wearing his bladed gauntlet with a sadistic grin on his face. Even with his magical field in place Devargo still slices open Thelix across the face. Thelix feels the pain as blood flows out of the wound plus a strange feeling starts to come over him as something was on the blade that cut him. The last thug seeing the odds against him and being a coward turns to flee but halts as he see a battle ready dwarf in front of him with an angry look on his face......
Next round, roll attacks and state your actions! Thelix takes 3 damage and make a fort save against the poison! DC 12

Thelix Moody |

Thelix smiles at the man, then taking his sword in both hands swings like he is ready to chop down a troublesome tree. "In Gorum's name I smite thee"!
Confirm Critical (1d20+3=11) Oh well. It would have been cool to take him out with one swing!

Inros Har |

Inros' tries to shoot at the thug fighting Theruska, but in his excitement the shot goes wild. precise shot and point blank shot used again (1d20+7=9)
unneeded damage roll, i am sure: human favored enemy bonus (1d8+2=10) of course, max damage on a bad shot...lol

Theruska Thull |

Baern Stonehammer |

Baern readies his axe and charges at the nearest enemy.

Devargo's throne room is full of chaos as men and women battle over information and status. The thugs want to gain in the eyes of Devargo before his enforcers enter the fray. Then two of them fall asleep on the job, not a good start for them. Sarastal smiles to herself as her spell is successful, pulling her crossbow out she fires at the thug not asleep but her shot goes flying over his shoulder and lands in one of the planks holding the ship together. Thelix smiles at the man easily shaking off the effects of Devargo's poisoned blades. He takes up his great sword and shouts above the noise of battle asking his god for the strength and his shout is heard as his sword finds Devargo in the arm nearly taking it off in one blow but somehow manages to stay standing to continue the fight. On the table Theruska throws a series of punches at the big man one going wide and the other bouncing harmlessly off the big man's jaw. Seeing the room explode, Baern charges in and strikes at the thug trying to leave, his axe finds the thug's flesh drawing blood. Baern's foe stays standing readying his own attack trying to remove this obstacle from his path to escape. Reloading his bow and firing again at the big man, Inros hopes this shot will do the trick but again fails to hit such a close target. The big man pulls back and throws a punch of his own but completely misses distracted by the tap on his jaw. With rapier in hand Yselle moves into the fray and attempts to strike on of these thugs, her attack hits the air cutting a sharp path through it but misses the thug by a wide margin. Devargo steps forward with blood freely flowing from his arm and swings both of his bladed gauntlets at Thelix, the first sails by but the other slices against his armour but does not pierce it making a shrieking noise as it grates on the armour making everyone cringe at the sound. The standing thug swings his long sword and connects but only a tiny little scratch which makes the dwarf snort in humor at the lame attack (1 hp dam)!
Next round, roll dice and state your actions!

Theruska Thull |

Thelix Moody |

Thelix pressing his advantage moves forwards again, trying to get the King of Spiders flanked.
Greatsword Attack (1d20+3=18) +2 for 20 if he is able to get him flanked.
and howls in fury as he swings his might sword GORUM! GORUM!

Sarastal |

Inros Har |

Once again, Inros takes a shot at the big man fighting Theruska : Precise shot and point blank (1d20+7=13)
damage favored enemy (1d8+2=5)
"Maybe I need to find a better target!" Inros yells in frustration.

![]() |

With a smile on her face Sarastal fires another shot into the fray, her bolt flies true and takes the thug facing Baern in the back. The man grabs ahold of the bolt and pulls it out quickly losing more blood, he some how manages to stay standing though waiting for the dwarf to attack again.
The battle with Devargo continues for Thelix, he moves in trying to press his advantage against the thug king. His Greatsword finds an opening in Devargo's defences drawing a great gush of blood in the swords path. Devargo screams in rage and gets ready to make his own attack on his foe.
Still on the table the two men trying to gain an advantage on the other. So far Theruska is able to keep the man at bay with his attacks even though the man as taken little damage so far. He throws a punch and then a knee at the big man but neither blow finds its target.
Once again Inros tries to keep the big man's thought off the man in rags he is facing. His shot sails over the two fighting and sinks into the ceiling of the room.
The big man is getting tired of the puny man in front of him but the man firing arrows at him is also pissing him off. He throws a big punch at the man in front of him to try an end this fast but the puny man proves to be to quick for him once again. he growls in anger at his failure.
Trying once again Yselle makes an attack of her own but only finds air.
The King of Spiders rushes his attack trying to push Thelix back so he can catch his breath from all of the blood loss and the battle. His bladed fists swing out wildly at Thelix not even coming close to the larger man.
The remaining thug still awake rushes forward with his longsword held high and strikes at Baern, his blade find the dwarf again across the shoulder doing great damage. (9 hps dam.)
Next round, roll attacks and state your actions! Looks like most of you have converted, waiting to hear from Inros, Yselle and Baern(if he is still with us) if they have converted or not? Please let me know in the disscussion thread soon!

Inros Har |

Inros reacts to the vicious attack on Baern by shooting at his attacker:
precise and point blank shots (1d20+7=27)
glad I switched targets ;)
normal damage Favored enemy (1d8+2=10)
confirm crit same bonuses as attack (1d20+7=19)
extra damage if confirmed
favored enemy (1d8+2=6)
favored enemy (1d8+2=6)
i should be able to do my conversion this weekend. had to catch up all week at work.

Theruska Thull |

This is getting me nowhere... Let's see if I can hit another one... thinks the human in his rags and jumps down from the table, towards the nearest other thug.
Mobility: +4 on AC against AoO's from moving, still dodging the big one. Let me know if I can still try to hit on another combatant.

![]() |

The battle seems to be changing in the favor of the heroes so instead of quickly reloading here bow Sarastal steps back to watch all of the blood shed and enjoy herself.
Feeling the touch of his god enter him and give strenght to his attack Thelix swings his greatsword to great effect as he hammers down on Devargo who crumples from the mighty blow. Thelix stands over the body of the thug warlord and growls, "I hate spiders!"
Seeing his battle getting him no where with the big man in front of him, Theruska decides its time to move on and quickly jumps down from the table looking for some one closer to his size to fight. The big man takes a swing at the retreating man but his fist only finds air as the monk is to fast for him. As he looks about for a fight he watches the dwarf attack a thug with his axe who misses as the thug dodges out of the way but finds an arrow has found its way into his body. He to slumps to the floor as blood begins to pour out of his body from the multiple wounds. Glancing to the other side of the room he sees Thelix drop the leader of this gang which leaves only the big man standing on the table by himself.
The big man looks around and decides he has had enough, last one standing, the others dead or sleeping for some reason and these folks are to much match, even for him.
Yselle's blade shows up a minute late as her blade finds only a dead man laying on the floor, her feet now in the middle of a pool of blood from the dead thug.
Things quiet down as everybody stops to catch their breathes from the quick battle. They won, there are still enforcers above to deal with but that should be easy with their employer dead next to his precious throne. The big man puts his hands out not wishing to fight any longer, surrender is the best option for him as of right now. With the battle over you all can feel the rock of the boat again, the creaks and groans of the boat pressing against the dock. There is a door off to the side that is closed, the trap door in the center of the room is wide open, the darkness spilling out of it as is many webs. Weird noises are coming from the hole, a kinda slurping sound. The thug who fell into the hole at the begining of the battle must be dead as there are no cries for help or movement that will tell you he is alive, only a slurping noise. The third way to leave this room is the way you all entered earlier which leads to the deck and maybe a handful of enforecers who do not yet know the fate of their leader........
Ok we are now using the new rules for this game! So what are all of you doing now in what once was Devargo's throne room? State your actions, role play it out!!

Thelix Moody |

As the enforcer surrenders and moves from the room, Thelix drops to one knee beside the corpse of "The King of Spiders", and offers his thanks to Gorum for guiding his blade in combat. While he is down there he quickly searches the body...maybe he has the evidence they are looking for on him...or maybe some other good stuff.
"I'm sure there are some kind of spidery things down there, Thelix states to the group. "Normally I would just throw a torch down there and hope for the best, but the authorities might frown on us burning down a section of Korvosa".
Looking at his new raggedly dressed companion he states. "Never expect honor among thieves". "You'll only be disappointed". "I'm sure you will perform much better should you have a weapon". "There should be some laying around now, and maybe some Armor you could fit into". "I could help you make the armor fit if you wish".
If Thelix doesn't find the evidence he is looking for he suggests they begin by exploring the open door, and saving the spider infested pit for later.
"Does anyone require healing"? he asks as he rises to his feet.

"I think I've learned that lesson now. But i have to refuse to take a weapon or armor from here. I was trained in fighting unarmed and unarmored... But I guess my training didn't take on in a real fight.
At least you didn't loose your money on me. I have to say, I feel obliged to do my best to help you in anything you need, for not being able to win this 'game'. I am in your debt."

Thelix looks at Theruska in utter shock. "you...you...you'd rather fight without weapons and armor...you..." He merely shuts his eyes and gives a quick silent prayer to Gorum that this seemingly good man will see the light.
"you owe me no debt though". "It was Gorum who guided my sword...I cannot take credit for his blessing". "Your opponent was fierce indeed...There should be no shame".

Searching around for awhile while the other talk, Theruska finally finds the button to close the trap door on the throne's arm rest, the door closes slowly bringing with it a blast of stale air into the room where the heroes currently stand. Mean while Thelix checks the body of Devargo while talking to Theruska and inquiring about anyone needing medical attention. He finds while looking through Devargo's pockets three ceramic vials filled with liquid and fitted with a tight stopper. Devargo is wearing leather armour, bladed gautlets and has a extreamly crafted hand crossbow attached to his hip with twenty bolt to go with it. The last thing Thelix finds is an old key. The bladed gauntlets have some kind of black substance applied to the blades.
Yelling for someone to shut the trap door, Sarastal quickly uses her arcane ability to check the room for any magical auras, none appear around the room except for any that are on one of her friends she is with.
More banter between the group continues as the new comer introduces himself and Inros brings up the pile of gold coins still sitting on the battle table. There is a pause as everyone is thoughtful for a moment, wondering what to do next, where to go, do we take the coins, will the enforcers be friendly now or not and most importantly the information they seek is still not in their hands!
State your actions and keep the role playing up, this is fun!

Sarastal |

So none of Devargo's stuff is magical? Not even the vials?
Sarastal breathes a sigh of relief. "My name is Sarastal. We're looking for information on a certain party, information that Devargo would have been privy to. Of course, no one can question him now. Not without magic beyond my capabilities, at any rate."
Are there still sleeping thugs around? Maybe we can question one.

Thelix Moody |

Thhelix opens one of the vials and sniffs the contents trying to determine what it is...
"I think we should search the place". "He obviously doesn't live in this room, so he must have quarters elsewhere". "Since he has nothing on him, we must find where he sleeps, and maybe the evidence will be there".
Thelix piles the loot on the table, being careful not to touch the blades on the gauntlets. he wonders if these could be cleaned off and used without too much trouble...ie weapon proficiency and stats"
"Why don't we try this open doorway, and see where it leads"? "Does anybody else want to lead the way"? If no one steps forward Thelix begins to enter the open doorway, being careful not to step on the trap door.
After reviewing your room description post, Thelix will wander over and look at the dragon in the cage to see what that's all about, before leaving the room

Boy did I miss a few things in my last post! Ok so there are thugs still asleep on the floor, the vials are obviously magical and I missed a few other minor things. Continue to post you actions and I will kinda redo my last post a little later today! Bladed gauntlet uses the same stats as spiked gauntlets, they are masterwork! Sorry guys!

Theruska Thull |

Upon seeing the bladed gauntlets, Theruska thinks better of his last words to not fight with weapons... He eyes the weapons suspiciously, after Thelix propped them on the table.
Hearing Sarastal explaining the situation to the dwarf, he shrinks a bit, looking down to the planks. He quickly volunteers to open the door and get in the other room first, feeling the need to make up for him breaking out the fight and with that, indirectly killing the source of information.

He gains no knowledge of what the contents is but each holds a different liquid, one blue, one black and the last one is total clear, like water but thicker.
More banter between the group continues as the new comer introduces himself and Inros brings up the pile of gold coins still sitting on the battle table. Dead bodies litter the throne room plus the two sleeping thugs who continue to snore, ignorant of the goings on in the room. The big man slowly steps down to the floor his arms still raise so he does not pose a threat to the heroes. He waits to see if he may leave taking very very tiny steps towards the door leading up to the top deck
After droping all of the loot from Devargo on the center table Thelix heads finally over to the small cage holding a small purple looking dragon type. It is alert now that Devargo is dead. It perks up as Thelix appraoches as if reading itself for a possible savior. It greets Thelix in the common tongue, Greeting great slayer of Devargo, I would be in your debt if you could release me from this foul cage and this dreadful place! My name is Majenko and that dreadful man has kept me locked up here for a long time now using me as entertainment battling his dream spiders. Again I would be in your debt! The miniture dragon waits for Thelix to respond, hoping this man is kind enough to let him go.
Theruska slowly moves to the door on the side of the room getting ready to go through when everyone is done in the room. Now knowing whats going on and what they are looking for he is ready to help these fine folk.
Ok I redid my last post, I hope I did not forget anything this time. I took Thelix's suggestion and put current XP on my sheet for easy reference! Thanks Thelix! There is 1000 gp you recieved from the Field Marshal and 825 gp from what the thugs and Devargo gambled with is on the table. To make it easy I am going to say Inros was carrying the 1000 gp coin pouch! Game ON!

Sarastal |

identify #1 1d20+10=27
identify #2 1d20+10=30
identify #3 1d20+10=21

"Yes, tell us about these dream spiders. My name is Sarastal, by the way. "
Sarastal goes over to the cage and unlocks it (using the key, if need be).

![]() |

You all hear a soft chuckle coming from the dragon, it takes a few seconds for most of you to figure out that the dragon was not actually talking out loud but it was so clear it seemed like it. The dragon cocks its head to the side as it watches Sarastal tries to open the door to the cage with the key. Nice to meet you Sarastal! Those dreadful spiders are a real pain, he thinks they are powerful to take on someone like me but they found out the hard way it is not so since all are dead and here I am talking to you, my savior! The key does not work in the lock on the cage however. Looking about the room another key is found on the floor where Devargo fell a little ways from him. Trying this key also does not open the cage. It would seem neither key is the one to this cage dear, anyone handy with locks? it asks the group. Still puzzled for a few more moments before it dawns on Thelix the dragon is talking telepathically to the group!
Everyone's eyes turn to Yselle for some reason. Sarastal takes that moment to inspect the vials, the first one is easy, the blue giving it away but now she is sure the vial holds healing properties. The second is just as easy as the first, spider venom which makes sense of course, Devargo the so called "King of Spiders" The last one takes a bit longer but she finally figures out the clear liquid will make one "not seen" to others........
As everyone is waiting for someone with talent at opening locks to free the dragon, the dragons says, Master Thelix, dream spiders come from the Mwangi jungle, their poison is very potent and if brewed with water, alcohol and dream spider web it makes shiver, the hottest drug in Korvosa I hear. If someone does not have the skills to open the lock maybe someone with strengh can bend the bars or something, just a thought! The dragon sits back on the perch of the cage where a bird would normally sit........
