I again will say that I like the CotCT AP. It's good quality.
Looking at it though, I wonder something: Do you think you could run it Solo?
Let's not take system considerations into regard. But simply, do you think the number of threats and the situations inherent could be accomplished by a PC going lone wolf?

I think that if the game balance can be worked out, sure. Any adventure can be. But it's tough to get a single PC who can serve the four classic party roles and still be at a level at which it's at all challenging and fun to play. Adventures are designed with parties of four or more characters in mind, though, so a lot of finagling has to be done on the part of the GM.

If you're comfortable with the GM running long-term NPCs, solo games become a lot easier. A pseudodragon with class levels would make a really good party NPC for a solo campaign, I think. The limitations of being Tiny and unable to use weapons (at least, this is how we play them) counterbalance the advantages of being able to fly, DR, high AC and rapid movement, and would certainly make the two characters feel very different in play.
Our pseudodragon PC is a cleric, and I'd recommend that combination: a flying healer is a great resource for keeping PCs alive.
Gestalt fighter/wizard or monk/wizard, plus NPC cleric, could be a viable combination fairly easily, at least through the first couple of modules. It's hard for me to judge the later ones.
