Rework save or die spells please

Hello,

one of the mightiest classes in 3.x was the Mage.Mostly because of the save or die spells he had(disintegrate,power word: kill,fireball,and so on).Which I think I was always a huge problem!

How is Paizo going to solve this problem?Those people in WOTC said somewhere there will be no save or die any more because of his role as a controller.

I´m not an editor but maybe some smart people have some suggestions or maybe even good old Jason does:)

Fireball is not a save or die spell.

Why is powerword kill a problem for you? Only d4 characters have to worry about it as a first round killer. Guess what.. no one is a d4 character anymore. ;)

Disintegrate? It's only a save or die spell if you're near death. Just like powerword kill, it depends on how much HP you have if it's going to kill you or not. Magic Missile can knock you to -10 and it has no save.. should we get rid of it?

They're all part of the game, there's no reason to remove them. If you have a DM that pulls out the big guns all the time, it's time for a new DM. Wizards of the Coast demonizes everything to make it sound like their changes to D&D are right. Should I stop having fun every week playing D&D 3.5 because Wizards says in every other sentence that D&D 3.5 isn't fun?

Tchnically Pwer Word Kill is not a Save or Die Spell as there is no save (100hp or less die, 101hp+ live)... Heightened FInger of Death is an example of a Save or Die Spell that can ruin anyone's day.

The real problem I see with Save or Die spells is that they are hands down so much better that the damaging spells that the damaging spells aren't worth it most of the time.
