This is another feat that strikes me as strange.
"Your skill with your favored weapon can frighten enemies...
Benefit: While wielding the weapon in which you have Weapon Focus, you can perform a dazzling display as a full-round action. Make an Intimidate check against all foes within 30 feet who can see you. You can substitute an attack roll in place of your Intimidate check if it is higher."
#1 - The actual effect of this feat is unclear to me. Do your enemies actually get the Frightened condition, or can you just Intimidate more people than normal?
Normally, you may use Intimidate to demoralize foes and cause them to become Shaken. You may do this to opponents who are "within 30 feet and can clearly see and hear you."(p44) Okay, the number of people - all foes within 30' who can see you - is the same, so it must be the condition.
You can use Intimidate to cause a foe to become Shaken (-2 on everything) without a feat so this feat must allow you to upgrade to Frightening them (flee, if they can't, -2 on everything). Like I said, not clear. Should the F in frightened be capitalized? Is that the norm? If conditions are not capitalized by custom now, maybe they should be.
#2 - So if your BAB is higher than your Intimidation check, your ranks in Intimidation are moot? That seems like a waste. Why bother with putting ranks into Intimidate at all?
Maybe the formula should just be: Intimidation check (ranks + ability mod +3?) + BAB, no matter what. I know that would eventually get really high (in the +40 range) but remember that Intimidate is against a DC of 10 + target's HD + Wis mod. A peasant should be damn scared of a 20th-level fighter with 20 ranks of Intimidate. But another 20th-level character or a Balor demon? Not as often. Still, if you don't like that, go with + 1/2 BAB. Just don't make it BAB or Intimidate; make it both.
