Over in this thread, people discussed what they wanted to see in player's guides for future APs. One popular request was for hints on suitable character options, e.g. appropriate favoured enemies.
I am hoping to run CotCT in the near future, and would like to give my group some low-spoiler hints for character creation, to avoid potential frustration among players who take a load of riding-related feats or 'favoured enemy (goblinoid)' when there's no opportunity to use them, or fail to put any ranks in 'gather information' when it's virtually essential.
So, does anybody have any suitable tips I can give my players - maybe people who are already running the AP, or even people from Paizo?

I'd say that they need at least one skill monkey, 2 if they can manage. Like, say, a rogue and a ranger or barbarian. There's alot of jumpimg around.
Rogues and Rangers would have a field day in CotCT. So would wizards, because there's lots of opportunity for intel-gathering and prep-time, and the encounters arent particularly grueling or grinding-lots of rest chances.

I advise you to explicitly permit your players to buy the Korvosa book and read all of it except for the Secrets chapter at the end. I think that a lot of fun in this path is going to come from interacting with the setting, and having a really good feel for the city will help them make a character with strong ties.
