Sorry if this posts twice but I didn't see the first version post.
A question has come up in character creation in our playtest. Can a specialist Wizard now select Divination as a prohibited school? It was a 3.5 restriction but neither Alpha release mentions it. At least that we've noticed.
So, is there an official reading on the subject?

As far as I can tell, he can. the only reason you couldn't in 3.5 was because they lumped read magic and detect magic as Divination (which was retarded). Now, nothing really says a Wizard even has to use those spells.

A final thought: There also isn't really any restriction banning you from taking your 'specialist school' as prohibited. Diviner taking Divination as prohibited? Crafty or crazy?
There is, in the first sentence of the section; the word other signifies that you can't select your specialty school as a prohibited school:
At first level, a wizard may choose one school of magic to focus on, and two other schools of magic to ignore (called prohibited schools).
