I say you find some more stuff for Linguistics. My vote?

SPEED READING!

You can read a book at a much faster pace than normal.

Normal: You can read a normal book at two minutes a page, and an advanced technical manual/manuscript at 5 minutes a page.

Read normal book at 1 minute a page DC: 15
Read normal book at 30 seconds a page DC: 20
Read normal book at 15 seconds a page DC: 30

Read technical material at 4 minutes a page: DC: 20
Read technical material at 3 minutes a page: DC: 25
Read technical material at 2 minutes a page: DC: 35
Read technical material at 1 minute a page: DC: 45
Read technical material at 30 seconds a page DC: 55

Material is written in magical text: +15 to DC
Material is written in unfamiliar language: +20 to DC

EH?

My vote:

Understand spoken language
Same as decipher script but with unknown language spoken in front of you (or you're eavesdropping).

I like it! They had something like it in d20 modern (in the SRD! It would be easy to convert!)

I'm not sure about the speed reading part, but as far as the unknown language thing, I kind of like it, but I'm not sure of the mechanics. I do know that the skill definitely encourages being able to say that something is in "ancient elvish," so the linguist that knows elvish can make a DC 15 check to figure it out or something of this nature.

I've also let PCs make checks to figure out a person's accent.
