I think this limiting factor (due to the wearing of armour) should apply to all uses of Dex.

Or, at the very least, also apply to ranged attacks.

The tank in heavy armour shouldn't be the best with a longbow, should he?

Actually, perhaps applying the Armour Check Penalty to ranged attacks makes more sense.

Or perhaps both Max Dex and Armour Check Penalty affect ranged attacks?

Are fullpate wearing archers that big of an issue in your game? :)

I guess I am trying to define a non-tank role for a character like a lightly-armoured fighter, a bard, ranger or similar.

If you have to more clearly commit to the ranged weapon route, then another role opens up in the party... the guy who kicks some in hand to hand is probably not the best ranged guy.

No way. Why do you hate? What have ranged attacks done to you?

Why can't a guy in armor be the best with a longbow?

It's not broken and doesn't need fixing.

Except that a fighter should be able to be a ranged guy. He shouldn't be locked into sword & board. BTW.. I see more rangers dual wielding then archering, so I don't think that you're helping define the roles, you're just limiting the fighter from being good with 1 weapon type.. which makes no sense.


I was playing with the idea to combine AC-Penalty and Max.DEX somehow.
Would make things easier with one statistic less to think about.
