Miniature suggestions

Savage Tide Adventure Path

Finding suitable miniatures for some creatures in STAP can be difficult, but here are some solutions that I've used:

Here There Be Monsters
Mob of Fiendish Baboons: I replaced with fiendish Girallon
Lemorian Golem: Aspect of Demogorgon

The Lightless Depths
Bebelith: Star Wars Acklay
Black Pudding: black playdough
Brain Collector: Star Wars Knobby White Spider
Emrag The Glutton: I used a toy turtle with parts from a McFarlane water dragon, but a Gamera model would work too.
Kopru: I replaced with Kua-toa

City of Broken Idols
Chief Achcauhtli: Dreamblade Tlamixec Battlelord
Huge Ochre Jelly: yellow playdough
Flesh Jelly: More playdough (red, white & yellow)
Julajimus: Vorgan beast (from Vorgan Ice Fang ship)
Temple Kopru: I replaced with avatars of Blibdoolpoolp (created from Horroclix Brine witch and Dreamblade Decapitrix)
Khala: Aspect of Demogorgon
Skinwalker: Mageknight Weresabertooth
Skinwalker Acolyte: Rakshasa
Xerkamat: Toy Piranhadon (from King Kong) with Iksar arms glued onto it.
Deinosuchus: big toy alligator
Skulvyn (Khala's pets): Anyone have any ideas?

Enemy of My Enemy
Lemorian Lancers (w/ Bodak Tyrannosaurus): Grimnak (T-rex rider) from the Heroscape base set.
Redfang: McFarlane hydra Dragon (when else will you have a chance to use such an incredible 'miniature')

Prince of Demons
Huge Demogorgon: Iksar figure with arms replaced by toy octopus tentacles and head replaced by toy baboon heads.

Your turn... got any tips (especially for Serpents of Scuttlecove and beyond)?

I am going to try and use the sorcerer dragon from McFarlane's for my Demogorgon. I want to remove the arms, add tentacles (not sure where to get good tentacles yet), two baboon heads (going with King Kong for now- open to suggestions), and then paint some hair on the torso (not sure where to get this either).

As you can see there are still some holes in my plan. I think the sorcerer dragon is a good choice, he's even holding an orb! He's also a good size since I am going for a gargantuan size figure. I plan to mount the base it comes with directly on to the appropriately sized base for D&D.

Any suggestions for some good tentacles, baboon heads, and hair please post! Where else could such a request be considered "normal"?

Thanks in advance.

Where indeed!

Our local craft store (michaels) has 'critter tubes' and they have one for sea creatures and another for jungles. They may be a little large for scale but if you just want the tentacles or heads, they should work. Some of these could probably be found individually as well at toy shops or even hallmarks. For hair I think it will be really complicated, but you could use the grass modelers put on their bases, or even get hair (deer, rabbit, etc.) at a tie-flying shop. The complicated part would be getting it short enough for a mini. With that much trouble you could cut or shave the fuzzy bits of a pipe cleaner I would think.

Some of my minis of use...

In BWG
loosed float: gargantuan blue dragon (shock factor to pull that baby out *grin* :)
bullywugs: draconum (mage knight attached to the right scale base)
pirates: random MK figures glued to a better base) continued use of course.

SWW
flotsom ooze: huge fire elemental
hydra: Aspect of tiamat (where else am I going to get to use it? :)
Sea Wyvern: color copy of map mounted on cardboard. I also kept the outline of the ship in cardboard so I have a quick template for other ships.
Mother of All/vinelings: gummi wurms-just can't resist (not there yet)

Any suitably sized rubbery toy octopus should work. If you can insert wire inside the arms (for posing or wrapping around PC's) so much the better.

baboon heads

Monkey Toob (available at most craft stores, like Michael's). I used the baboon heads for Demogorgon, and the mandrill heads (mounted on marilith bodies) for the Orlath demon in Serpents of Scuttlecove

and hair

better to forgo that or just paint it on, but if you *really* want it, a stuffed animal can usually supply all you need.

Well for Demogorgon I am using Reaper's demonic lasher.

For Charon I am using Reaper's Charon complete with boat.

And for Malcanthet I am using Reaper's Eilluvasheth, Succubus Queen
