Considering the state of my finances... Does anyone know of a good campsite nearby?

Liberty's Edge

Perhaps i'm looking in the wrong place...i'm trying to find the sign up for the games? Is there a different adventure each day? Or is it the same one over and over again?

(I know this has already been answered by one person but more detailed instructions may be helpful for some people)

Go to the website (www.consupport.com)

Choose Gen Con UK 2008

You should now have a menu down the left of the screen.

Choose Events > Events by Type > Pathfinder Society

This lists all the Pathfinder modules running, when they are running and an option to add to cart.

If you want to volunteer to gm instead choose Sign Up > Events by Type > Pathfinder Society and choose Volunteer.

Does anyone have any idea what standard of catering is likely to be in the actual convention? I'm wondering if a packed lunch would be a good idea, although I know some universities have amazing canteens.

Sweet just signed up for Fridays 2pm "The Frozen Fingers of Midnight" and Saturdays 9am "The Silent Tide".

Now I just can't wait, need to make a character now. I'm assuming character creation rules will be just like for the states Gen Con??

Assuming it's more or less the same as last year:

- if you're staying on-site, breakfast in halls is reasonably good
- cafe near the main Palmer building is fine for snacks, sandwhiches, coffee etc
- the union does the sort of food uni students are able to survive on
- the "Blue Room" canteen does reasonable meals -- lasagne, chilli, burgers etc. nothing to write home about, but okay
- I think the SCR did some food in the evening, but not sure

Possibly the main problem is location -- the Union building, cafe, Blue Room, and SCR are all right next to the main Palmer building and the trade hall; the RPG building and the minis/boardgames building whilst not far away by any stretch of the imagination, aren't close enough to quickly pop out, grab a sandwhich, pop back -- particularly if you expect to spend all day doing RPGs, minis, and/or boardgames.

But you're not coming to the con for the food!

Going off-campus there's (if memory serves) a reasonable Indian and a Chinese 5 minutes drive; obviously plenty more in the town center including decent Chinese and Indians. If you're feeling rich and adventurous then the "Fat Duck" is 20 minutes along the M4 :)

Last year most of my food came from the cafe, this year I expect it to be much the same. One thing you probably need to figure out early on is how to get to the SCR :)

Sounds tempting but I will be paying 4 trips minimum to the UK (i live in Ireland) so this is another one which I cannot do. A pity though I'd've liked to seen it. RPGs aren't too big in Ireland and its hard to find groups :S

Barring any accidents, I should be there on saturday and sunday.

Have yet to work out some details with work, and the travel, but I would make three rounfs od PFRPG with you guys.

Question: Is this going to be 3.5 rules or PF alpha/beta or what? Anyone know?

Thanks,

Lewis.

I think it's 3.5, like all Paizo products, until the Pathfinder rules hit August 2009. That would make the most sense and open it to the widest possible audience.

Just looked at getting there by train or plane... Ouch... I'd be sorely tempted to take you up on that offer, 'cept I'm in Belgium. :(

Hey.... just figured out my route... To save the most money I will be driving through Belgium......

So maybe.....

How do I register for the ones being run by Logue and Frost?

Right now I just registered for a slot.. but does not say who is running it

I don't believe you can -- indeed I doubt particular groups of players will be put together for particular GMs until the numbers are finalised. If it were possible to choose which GM’s games you play in then all the players would go for the "name" GMs. Ask nicely the day/slot before and you may get a seat at the table of your choice, but letting people sign up for particular tables in advance is just going to be hassle.

Anyway, it's not the official, afternoon, normal Logue games you want -- it's the secret, backroom, midnight Logue games.

For any particular slot they are currently asking for 8 GMs too. I recall that in previous years it has been fairly random assignment of players and GMs. So you might be lucky and get a 'celebrity GM' or you might end up with me for instance!

Talking about that...

Anyone consider setting up an after hours Paizo Party :-)

I've no objection to an after hours Paizo party. Get some games going, maybe try out some board games. (Like a Game of Thrones)

Sounds like a good idea.

I'm pretty sure there's a Board Games library there. Though taking a few games down would be a good backup plan.

Nick and I will not be running games as we'll be running the entire room. :-)

We're relying on volunteers to GM the games.

Can someone please answer this:

With character creation it mentions faction based feats? Where can these be found?

When does the Pathfinder Setting book actually release? I mean is it the 1st of August, meaning that if I order it online I should get it before the Gen Con UK? Or would I have better luck just buying it there? If so what will the price be?

Thanks...counting down the days to GCUK

The faction based feats will be in the Pathfinder Society Player's Guide. The Player's Guide will release as a PDF sometime around August 1. It'll be a free download.

If we buy campaign settings or Beta rules sets at Gen Con UK is there any chance of getting autographs by Erik and/or Jason? (Or what about Nick Logue modules?)

Has Christine Schneider, your RPG Superstar, been invited to rendezvous with you, Josh, or are you not allowed to reveal that one yet? :D

Have arrangements been made for the Paizo staff due to be in attendance to be well provisioned with iron rations?

Very Important Question!!!!!

Hey Anyone at Paizo going to GenCon UK.

Are you guys going to be selling stuff at GenCon UK? and if so will the price be based on the US or UK Economy? Will the Price go up becuase of customs and such?

This is important to me since I am a US military Member over seas and I buy your product based on the US economy *I even pay for Shipment rates based on shipping inside the US*, and I have notice RPG products are much more expensive here in Europe and if you guys had to price your products similar to that it would be cheaper for me to just get it online instead of buying it at the convention.

The prices will be in pounds and will be based on the prices that our products are sold at in pounds in the UK. We're not interested in under-cutting our UK distributor.

I don't yet have specifics on what that will do for pricing.

Yeah I did not want to pick a faction until my home players have a chance to decide...

But since I currently have 0 players.... May take awhile...:-(

As of now i'm thinking of doing a Andoran Half-Elf or Human Ranger. Waiting for more faction information in the PDF before final descision, either way I will be making a Ranger for sure! Fav class!

Not stupid questions Rich. Probably there's a number of lurkers who want to know the answers.

There not RPGA games so you don't need to be an RPGA member or have any experience of RPGA games. They are open to anyone (and you can sign up on the gencon uk website

I believe that the idea is for you to create your own character and the pathfinder society character creation rules should be going up on this website on 1st August.

So hopefully see you there.

I am definitely in the DO IT! DO IT! DO IT! Category.

I'd prefer it if they didn't. Because if they're at the stand for the days, then there's more time to chat with them. If they're not at the stand, then there'll be less time to chat with them.

Suggestion:
Maybe the Paizo staffers attending (besides any regular identification required by the Conference) could have badges featuring their messageboards avatars for quick and speedy identification. (Also this means that we would get to make humorous(?) observations about how much or how little Paizo staffers actually resemble their avatars... :D)
