We're working with Gen Con UK to make the dates/times available as soon as possible. I'm afraid you'll have to wait just a bit longer as we sort out the details.

Sovereign Court

Well, it looks like I'll have to go now as well. Paizo at GenConUK = Awesome!

Will you bring some Pathfinder RPG Beta copies for us to buy?

Trains to Reading are excellent -- depends on where you're coming from obviously, but frequency & speed are pretty much as good as you can reasonably expect to London, Wales, Bristol, the south-west, Birmingham, etc.

The campus is walkable from the station so long as you're feeling energetic, aren't carrying much, and know where you're going; for the rest of us the rank at the station usually has loads of taxis waiting.

Will there be a different Pathfinder game to get into on each game day??

Seriously, going to see Hamlet in Stratford starring David Tennant and Patrick Stewart immediately followed by Paizo at Gen Con = best birthday week ever, I can barely wait...

Its gonna be a great time. Now if I can just find some way to get tickets to that performance.... grr... that is a hard show to find tix for.

So My original plan was to drive from Germany to Gen Con UK, but I just received bad news, I can not get Gas Coupons for the UK :-( *Gas Coupons allow me to pay close to US prices on gas*. So what is the price of gas now in the UK?....Something tells me this trip is going to hurt... Was going to take the 2009 Mustang, now I think I will take the car the does better on Gas mileage ;-).

Gas prices at the moment are about £1.17 a litre. Also known as "You really don't want to know".

hmm Lets see... Right now I am paying around $1.15 a Liter in Germany and most countries around here... the Exchange rate is 1.99470 dollars to the pound.. so that is $2.33 a Liter.....*Chokes*....wow...

For those US folks... that would be around $8.83 a gallon.. Which is more then Double the average US price...*Chokes again*

I know! One of those sites where I have to resist the urge to send them emails saying "Seriously, fire your web devs, I'll code up something far superior, and you can pay me in product" or similar. AFAIK (and I've been checking this every day when I'm waiting for IDEs to load up when I get into work, and again before I go to bed, so if they were there I'd probably have spotted them by now) the Paizo events haven't gone up yet...

When they do it seems like the most reliable way is to go to Events -> Event Summary and click on the thing you want to sign up to. If you have an account and are logged in it should give you an "Add to Cart" action. There are various other places where it looks like you should be able to sign up in theory, but the Event Summary seems to be the only place that isn't bwokked in some way...

At present it doesn't seem possible to sign up to play any specific games on the website. I'm signed up to run some games in specific slots but I don't know what games the will be at present as nothing has been assigned. I'm guessing it will mostly be 4e stuff but hope to run some Pathfinder if there is any opportunity.

But yeah, it's a pretty awful site for signing up for anything.

Other the Paizo Games I have no interest in Playing D&D, I hate the game... I only run it out of necessity...and only Paizo because their stories out weigh what I find as a terrible game, no matter the edition..

I am hoping to find some White Wolf, Shadowrun or Star Wars games *The setting holds back my hatred for d20*

While GenCon UK tends to be pretty heavy on the D&D (various versions) there are also always plenty of other games. Previous years have had a lot of official Call of Cthulhu games for instance and there are always plenty of delegate organised games too.

Dragonmoon, what kind of Mustang you got? You already have an 09, I thought the production line for that didn't start till...well about this month!

Just curious, 06 GT Prem owner myself, love my baby, but it costs about 55 to fill her up on base, I don't even want to imagine off base.

The Gas Coupons got cut because they are being redone/remodeled. Navy is trying to go to a Gas Card (like a credit card) that you can just "refill" with credit and be able to use it anywhere just like a credit card. Too bad that process takes like 3 months!!

Wayyyyy Off subject..

I have not got the Mustang yet... It should get here in July or early August... Ordered a 2009 GT Prem with a Glass roof :-)

They have the gas cards here already in germany but they are only useful in Germany and a few other countries, the UK not being one of them. I was trying to find away to get ones that was useful in the UK, but I was told that was not possible because I am not stationed there :-(.

Liberty's Edge

Sorry you can't use them here...though I don't see why you wouldn't be able too. Glass roof eh? Not much into that, too many things fall from trees. :(

They are in the process of putting the Pathfinder Society slots up on the website right now. By the end of the day it should be clear. It looks like Friday or Saturday would be the best days.

That is, in fact, what you are generally intended to do.

Sovereign Court

Excellent. Never been in a Living Campaign type event before, so I wasn't sure. I suppose that means the character won't level up during the event, to keep everything balanced?

Apparently it is possible for you to level up between adventures at the same con. I've never done OP before either, so I'll be intrigued to see how it all shakes out!

This thread might be helpful to you:

hasty notes from pathfinder.

It seems that you level up after three adventures so you'd be level 2 for the 4th one if you did all 4 and with living campaigns it is normal to have a mix of levels anyway.

Main tips are enjoy it, be willing to play games alongside strangers and have fun!

I'm GMing some pathfinder and some living forgotten realms so I'll be getting free accommodation in the university hall of residence. I stayed in them last year and while they are basic they are okay. Particularly if you're spending most of your time gaming then you just need a bed nearby. And the university breakfasts are decent.

Oh, I'll claim Entombed with the Pharaohs!

Sovereign Court

My first Convention too. Hopefully I can get some good gaming in, and maybe get to play some of the interesting board games that are out there, when I'm out of the convention hall.

Anyone got a copy of some of the Fantasy Flight Games boardgames? Like A Game of Thrones?

A good list of tips for going to GenCon can be found here.

And yeah, I'll bring along my Gamesmastery Module, U2: Hangmans Noose for identification. Maybe I can get it signed by Nick!

GCUK's an order of magnitude smaller than Indy etc, so SKR's "Gen Con tips" should be read in a 6-point font.

Dragnmoon wrote:

It's one of the better hotels in Reading; the university's not in a great location for hotels -- the Comfort Inn's on the doorstep, but other than convenience it's got little going for it.

The choice is essentially stay on-site in student accomm, or go off-site; if you're going off-site go somewhere nice, don't compromise.

Consider some of the serviced appartments -- "Number 18", "Avante", or "Faculty" -- they're often decent value if you're looking for two or three rooms.

Uzzy wrote:

FFG will be there and will probably be running stuff themselves; I'm pretty sure Game of Thrones was in the Games Library last year, so should be available.
