Ending of my group and my gaming (for now)

Off-Topic Discussions

Well, I just ran my last session of my homebrew setting with my group of players here in South Dakota. I joined the US Army! I ship off to basic training in Georgia on wednesday for 9 weeks and then ait for 28 weeks in Texas. Im becoming a Patriot Missile Operator! Good times. It's gonna be rough to not game for like 9 months but even worse I wont get to see my 2nd daughter be born in June but it is all for the best. Im doing it to take care of them. But from what i understand rpgs have a strong presence in the military so it shouldnt be too hard to find new players when i get stationed. So also goodbye fellow paizo-posters (for now!). I'll be back!!

If you're going to be at Hood, drop me a line and we'll get together! haka21@yahoo.com

In any event, be safe and you'll be in our thoughts and prayers!

Fort Hood has a Patriot Missile batallion so it is a possibility for my post after AIT. We'll see i guess. lol.

Good luck, homey.

There are tons of gamers in AIT, and if your good you can even get other ppl to fold your BDUs and shine your boots if you DM for them.

And FYI, if you absolutly cant take Basic, don't say you are gay or do drugs or are suicidal. Those cause issues. Just invoke article 125 (I think, maybe 137) which basically says that if you have been in the military for under 180 days you can quit. Flat out quit, no marks on your record, like you never joined. They brief this omited (Omited from your basic training manual, but its in the regs) article at your 181 day mark.

Whew! That was intense. 9 months of training in the Army over with and now im finally with my unit in Ft. Bliss. Hence my gaming is about to return! I've quietly been tinkering and tailoring my D6 fantasy setting, Arko, over my scant few minutes of free time throughout training and it's now ready for action!

Oh and hello old paizo friends! Im back for good.

welcome back man.

That's great. Welcome back. I would also like to thank you for all the work and sacrifices you make for our country.

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys! It feels great to be back on these forums. It feels like my wife and daughters are making the most sacrifices moving down to El Paso to be with me and not knowing anyone down here, but Im overjoyed to be back with them.

Hey, high five for a fellow d6-System player! Tell me how your world's magic system works.

Thanks everyone! This is why a love and missed the paizo community. You guys rock. Chris, my magic system for D6 Fantasy is pretty much as written in D6 Fantasy except I use some of my own spells in addition to the precalculated ones written. In my setting there is no divine magic so i dont use miracles(even though i love them) and sorcerer's take 1D6 stun damage every time they use a spell if they haven't been trained at the Academy of Sorcery. One of my players had a Dwarfish sorcerer that kept failing at getting enrolled in the Academy but he could still unleash some pretty hefty spellpower before he knocked himself out. I have a D6 Fantasy thread up in 'Other RPGs'. You should post up some of what you've done with the system. And again, thanks everyone for the warm welcome!
