The 12th Iconic - Eando Kline

I doubt this is realistic, but I think it would be cool as heck. Maybe not Eando Kline, but a similar character. He/she could grace the cover of PF12 and get a stat block for AP3. As a result, we could watch the character progress (maybe as a multiclass Rogue/Bard) until they take levels in whatever Pathfinder Prestige Class James, Jason, Erik, and Mike come up with. It would be an interesting experiment for readers to see the evolution of a Pathfinder during AP3.

I'm sure this is just wishful thinking, but it'd be a neat thing to see in print.

Thoughts?

I think the 12th Iconic should be a druid/bard.

Skeld,

James Jacobs has mentioned several times that the 12th iconic will be a multi-class fighter/sorcerer.

Sorry to be the one to crush your dreams.

There are twelve models.

One is to be revealed.

:-)

did he actually say that the 12th iconic will be a multiclass character? because I got the impression that it will be a new base-class created for the PRPG that will be a combination of fighter and sorcerer, like the Duskblade from the PHB II.

I think the gnome is going to be the PF druid.

What about the "Half-Orc"?
I haven't seen anything on a Half-Orc icon.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Iconic #11 is a female gnome druid.
Iconic #12 is a half-elf multiclass fighter/sorcerer.

No half-orcs. Yet, at least. Maybe some day...

Where is this female gnome druid?

Shucks, I was hoping that y'all were going to unleash a new Pathfinder core class...

Actually, I'd love to see Paizo turn the whole Order of the Stick into a set of serious Pathfinder iconics. They have many of the core classes covered: human fighter, human rogue, halfling ranger, half-elf wizard, dwarf cleric. And stick in Eando's twin brother and his evil compatriots? Awesome.

(Of course, I'd love to see Downer and his allies grace Pathfinder, too.)

That would be entertaining.

How will you show that #12 is a multiclasser at, say, 1st level in the pregen character section of adventures?

My sense would be to start the character our as a sorcerer, since that's more of an innate matter than learning combat techniques.

Alas... this did not increase the chance of half-orc iconics appearing anytime soon. In fact... the chance just dropped a half-notch on the probability meter. (Skulks away to peel rotten food off his clothes to feed to Gobblehole, the Paizo Otyugh.)

By including flavor text to indicate that even though he's currently a 1st level fighter, he's always been into magic. Or if he's a 1st level sorcerer, show how he's always been into swordplay. Flavortext saves the day again!

Maybe with a background story about how he outfought his former master's imp familiar and now carries its Tiny silver dagger as a talisman? ;p

LOL! Nice to see you can keep your sense of humor when a fan playfully objects to your decisions... unlike some publishers I could mention.

Spoiler:
Half-orcs are the original "troubled hero". Long before a certain dark elf character became popular, half-orcs had to struggle with their noble deeds and heroism being overlooked due to their heritage. The fact that Paizo has no plans for a half-orc iconic is just more of the same prejudism and bigotry which half-orcs are forced to continuously face and suffer.

Half-Orcs Are People Too!!!!!

In all fairness, some folks tend to read comments from some publishers the way satan reads the bible. How can anyone keep a sense of humor in that climate? Pazio is not there, yet.

I Don't know if found a use for that Gold Kobold, but I think he might be cool as an Iconic. Mabe some kind multiclass Rogue/sorcerer.

Liberty's Edge

...You know, how about a Hellknight? If they're LN and not LE, they're appropriate for PCs, alignment-wise.

That's the joke. My writing is so bad, feeding it to Gobblehole is exactly what Paizo would do with it. It'd probably give the poor thing indigestion too.

Why not use the rules for a Battle Sorceror?

It's open content and seems like a perfect fit.

Meh.

Battle Sorcerer isn't mainstream enough. That's what the iconics are. Mainstream superstars of tradition! I'm not sure what that means, but I do know that I'd rather keep our iconic multiclass character relatively vanilla when it comes to stats and pour on the spice and chocolate and curry and other flavor in his backstory.

Fair cop, I can understand that point of view. Just thought it might be an option instead of seeing things like a 1st level sorceror wasting his feat on Weapon Proficiency or suddenly swapping weapons at 2nd level...

I like the approach of putting it in the backstory, it's just that mechanically at 1st level I can see him playing like "only a fighter" or "only a sorceror". It'd be good to have the mechanics reflect the backstory.
:)

I'll put my faith in Paizo to do a good job of making it play seamlessly though, whatever rules you end up using.

Yeap, not to mention Wayne could be asked to draw him with whatever martial weapon he'd use (if he starts as a sorcerer.)

If I remember correctly, we asked for a sword in one hand and a little burning demon fire in the other.

When I read that, my first thought was he would be holding a tiny tiny little flaming demon struggling in his hand that he throws at people. :)

You're not the only one.

I think it would be really cool if Eando was the unofficial "13th" iconic, and if we saw him given a spread similar to the other iconics in the back of some upcoming PF issue.

Since Eando's journal won't continue forever, it would be a really cool way to wrap up his journal by printing an iconic style layout for him.

The sketch hasn't come in yet... there's still a chance this might be a possibility!
