Thanks To Paizo's Decision I'm Subscribing Now

4th Edition

Okay, Paizo makes great stuff but my wallet is very thin these days... I'm recently remarried, we upgraded my property by joining funds, I'm an older college student trying to make ends meet while accepting the sacrifice of taking on a human services related job by day while being an only moderately paid (if ever) game designer in the off hours... but due to the fact that Paizo decided to stay with the 3.0/3.5 for now (though looking into the Necromancer bit for 4th I think I understand), I decided to pledge my support, as I said I would with companies that remain with 3.x for now and subscribed to at least one product so far... not the adventure paths... YET... but for the time being the delivered adventures.

Granted, its all I can do at the moment... but once landscaping investments are secured, perhaps a raise in order due to my working to educate myself further, and a bit of freelance writing underway I may also subscribe soon to Pathfinder.

But, all in all, I would like to at least offer this much to Paizo's decision... you choose to remain out of the 4e scene for now.. for decent, obvious reasons in regards to the game flavor itself... aka the same reason I'm hanging back from 4e... and for that reason I'm doing my part... as much as it hurts my aging, tattered, someday to be licensed social worker wallet, to show my support to you.

It is most appreciated! We will do right by you.

Goodness Erik! I figured someone would respond to this fairly early but I never guessed you, much less any of the other Great Ones. Thanks for the comment!

Yeah, its a stretch but its worth it... even more than when I offer a dozen or more of my own products (or my attached publisher's products) to an interested individual via net contact. Your stuff is good...well, great for that matter.... my DM was saddened to see the paper end of Dungeon, I was really, really saddened... okay, I liked Dragon but to me Dungeon was the TOTAL deal... even way back in the day (I started picking it up I think in 89, 90... something like that... when DID it start for that matter???)

Anyways, at some random point in the board I said that I would make the effort to support each and any publisher that remained with 3.x the best I could and since I learned about Paizo I figured it was time for me to make good on my efforts.. heck, if anything I can just volunteer to stay over half a shift a night a month and make up double what I'd be paying you for the one subscription I have now... and possibly both this and a Pathfinder in that amount of 4 hours. Its worth it, after all.
(really, as a psychiatric aide I mostly sit in front of a sleeping, constant observation patient's room and while away the evening reading or drawing maps on graph paper why glancing over at the patient... I could, well, be reading Paizo product material during that time and getting paid to buy MORE Paizo product material)

Thanks again!
Dave

Well, I was going to post something about subscriptions and money well spent, as well as some thought about the future of the D&D community, but these message board forms don't retain text and I hit a wrong key and the whole post was lost. That's damned annoying.

I'm all in. I challenge all those of us that dreamed of continuing 3.5 support, to support Paizo in their brave decision.

My Pathfinder subscription starts today, and I look forward to my first volume of Crimson Throne.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

Ironicly I subscribed to Pathfinder only a couple of weeks before. I was unsure but leaning towards not going 4e. But I have liked all the Paizo stuff I had had up until then and when I found out they was making a world setting book(which so far i have loved what I know of it) that was enough for me to subscribe. Paizo staying 3.5 and eventually working on a new version with open play test(which I think a lot of companies should take note of for the future) just cements my feeling towards Paizo.

This later likely would have got me to subscribe if I hadn't already just done so a few weeks ago.

Lone Shark Games

Cool thread... wrong forum?

And yeah, open playtest / development is awesome.

Scarab Sages

I'm all in. Our group didn't really enjoy 3.5 so we're back to 2 edition (didn't care for the multi-classing system or the lengths of the melees). We're are going to switch to the Pathfinder RPG when it's ready. We're a bunch of old timers and look foward to watching Paizo's campaign world grow and leaving our mark on it. I'm as happy as the day I got my 1st World of Greyhawk supplement.
