It was Easy.. used to take me an hour to write up my report and post them.

Now that I have an reviewer of my reports that is an english major, what used to take me an hour now takes me all day!!!!.

He reivews.. I change... He reviews again I changer again.. and Of course he has his own things he has to do so I have to wait on him to review them..

ARGH!!!! I want to go home!!!! :-)

Dragnmoon, your post has several spelling and grammatical errors. I recommend that you revise it, correcting these issues to clarify the points you are trying to make.

I wasn't an English major, but I'm just as annoying as they can be...

Dragnmoon,

Stick with it, man; I'm finding that people who can write correctly and proficiently in technical English have a HUGE advantage in the workplace over their less-literate brethren. Written English is one skill well worth the time and trouble to master.

Well, I'm sorry you feel that way. I am an English major, and it's serving me quite well, job-wise. I agree that working under an editor can really be a pain in the butt at times, but there is a need in today's society for proper wording, accurate sentences, and grammar. It is a shame that working under an editor is causing you undue stress. I hope things start looking up for you.

Now that I have an reviewer of my reports that who is was? an english capitalization major, needs connector, such as "and" or "therefore" what used to take me an hour now takes me all day!!!! extra exclamation points are unneccessary.the final period is also unnecessary

He reivews spelling.. ellipses I change... He reviews again needs a comma I changer spelling again.. and comma Of capitalization course he has his own things he has to do so comma I have to wait on him to review them.. ellipses

Hey, man... When you get a minute, could you type up these revisions and resubmit the post for me? Thaaaaanks....

I'm SO sorry about that... I just couldn't resist.

He reivews spelling.. ellipses I change... He reviews again needs a comma I changer spelling again.. and comma
comma insertion is not grammatically needed, as use of the word 'and' indicates a pause Of capitalization course he has his own things he has to do so comma
comma should actually be either behind do, indicating a pause, or not inserted as a pause is not grammatically needed in this sentence I have to wait on him to review them.. ellipses

Burger-flippers the world over agree with you 100%. Then again, so do rap stars, so maybe they can't all be wrong.

(Also, unless you're in the UK you don't need the hyphen; on the west side of the Pond, we view hyphens as being overrated.)

Irony aside, I would argue that slang, including rap, does have its place. It keeps English a living language.

I think you guys are confused because of my grammatical errors...

It is not that I hate working with someone who has a Major in English..

I hate working with someone Who is English... and a Major..

:-p

All jokes aside..

My product is usually done at 9am. The Capt. looks over it fixes minor things and asks me to re word a few things, I do that And I was done at 9:30 am.

Now The new Lt. looks at it, Puts red marks all over it, tells me to re write the whole thing. He goes to meetings, returns fixes the errors I made on my interpretation on what he wanted, goes on more meetings.

Returns and asks me to fix things he missed before, goes to a few more meetings, comes back then we show the Capt., who tells me to change some things.

Then the Lt. tells me to correct the errors I made on the changes, goes on a few more meetings.

Then after the work day is already supposed to be over he returns and does some minor changes and I post it.

ARGH!!!.. I think I need to take some English courses just so I can have a shorter work day :-)

I am an English major. I also have an education degree.

But I'm not a dick. If the meaning is clear I probably wouldn't worry over small problems, but then maybe he was hired because they can't understand what you are writing. Hmmm. I can understand all your posts so I don't see why your report should be any worse.

I think you should make him disappear. A tire iron and some plastic tarp should do the trick. You have a car with a trunk in it, right?

I like the Lt... no problems with him..

He was not 'Hired' to fix my work..

He just makes my Fridays take soooooo long!!!..

and taking a tire iron to him i think will not go over well with the military..

By the way.. I never had complaints about my reports in the past..:-)

The Lt is just a bit more Picky.. Brand new Officer have a tendency to be that way :-)

Ooooo: the military. Insubordination is out of the question then.

Hand grenade accident?

That said... Like I said.. I Like the Lt...Just don't like How long my Fridays are now

The only difference between an E1 and an O1 is four years.

Just funnin' ya. Not all English majors are that anal, thank God! And as others have suggested, maybe you can learn something from this.

I have been told I have problems with my use of commas, I don't know why since i learned everything i know about commas here. :-)

Well don't learn from us, because we tend to overuse commas in our posts.

But ninjas, they're great with commas.

BTW: That was an excellent run-on sentence.

Literacy is overrated, especially the convoluted maze that is English literacy. Unfortunately, it's overrated by the wealthiest country in the world.

(And I'm an English major myself--go figure.)

Alas, I'm in a profession where my reports will be read by state regulatory agents, and, worse, by lawyers. I HAVE to be a dick to myself. And sometimes a clear meaning is, well, contra-indicated, thus forcing me to rely on obfuscation in order to fail to get my point across.

Hey! You don't work for me... do you?

From AR 25-50...

"1–11. Rewriting, retyping, and drafts
...
b. Rewriting. Excessive revisions to create a perfect product are a waste of time. The objectives of good correspondence are clarity and brevity. Do not rewrite...correspondence unless it is clearly inadequate for the intended purpose. Do not rewrite to correct minor errors in format, arrangement, and phraseology unless the correspondence is going outside DA or to the general public.
c. Retyping. Do not retype DA correspondence to correct typographical errors, word omissions, or other minor errors unless the changes are so numerous that the end result looks sloppy. Make corrections neatly and legibly with pen and ink. "

I love that last part...

Why is it that people always forget/overlook geology, when it is what is beneath their feet everyday? (With the exception of for a few astronauts floating indeterminately in space, and even they rely to a certain extent on gravity from planets.)

Why?
Because geologists are the secret illuminati who rule the world, and they prefer that they are overlooked.
*THINK* about it for just a moment. Fossil fuels. Gold. Diamonds for James Bond laser weapons. Rare metals for your mobile telephones. Dinosaurs for movies or toy franchises to keep children occupied and James Jacobs happy. Heck, even those nasty radioactive elements that some nations use to drive power generation.
Where would any of this be without the geology? You can't even say 'back in the stone age' because, you know, you need someone to work out which rocks are good for making axe-heads from....

I think that I've made my point.

Just don't let anyone know that I've told you.
