I for one liked Dead Horse...I'll miss him.
But then again, I can be a jerk.
Well, it has now occurred to me that the alias might be locked for censorship purposes. Perish the thought.
If that were so it would be ironic because the purpose of the alias was to remind people on both sides of arguments that they were just mindlessly recycling their rhetoric for the sake of debate, and to give people the chance to do something cathartic, namely take a shot at me (Dead Horse) instead of quarreling.
Dead Horse has never insulted anyone or drawn attention to anyone. Sorry if someone has felt that way. He just wanted to lighten up stuff that was getting too heavy.
It was censored because flogging a dead horse mixes sadism, necrophilia and bestiality.
It's just so horrible and unfunny.

That's incorrect and an overstatement of what's occurred today. Gary and I are shifting the tone of the 4E boards. We have not moderated anything outside of the 4E threads and shall continue to rely on self-moderation by our awesome community.
But I got the idea someone had decided not to follow the rules when I read this:
The problem with thread-jacking to end threads that have devolved into trolling and bickering is that the thread-jack is just another troll. B cannon-firing smurfs at grumpy threads, you only (as others have mentioned) keep that thread alive. Grumpy threads burn themselves out. Silly, off-topic thread-jacks (even with the best of intentions) just keeps them alive.
So self-moderating boards: yes.
Self-moderating that results in bad threads exceeding their life expectancy: probably not.
I have not attacked anyone or any company with this alias and I think this is entirely out of line. I have always complied with your requests Gary and it really sticks in my craw that someone has decided to treat me like a child. Dead Horse's posts have been used to defuse argument not to incite it, the fact that you disagree is a matter of opinion. Are we now disabling people's aliases based on taste and opinion?
Why don't you just disable the accounts of those people who drag 4E arguments out ad infinitum?
(EDIT) May I add Gary that this seems to be VERY odd behavior for you. You have been very cool in the past and I appreciate it. You have really thrown me on this.
