I was just released from the hospital today, I unfortunately got hit by a car sunday night and because of the whole thing I have a broken leg, 2 ribs, a wrist, arm, and collarbone, and one concussion. All I can say is that red lights are there for a reason people.

Wow. I got off lucky compared to you. I got rear-ended last week and my car was totalled but our injuries were much less serious.

Everyone I've dealt with from tow-truck drivers to insurance agents to police officers have said that they've been very busy the last few weeks.

I'm really ticked about the driving I've seen.

Get well.

Ouch, ouch, ouch! As someone who's never been seriously injured in any way (worst injuries have been a badly sprained thumb, a couple of sprained ankles and a chipped tooth) I can't even begin to imagine the pain you must be in.

But yeah, some people out there behind the wheel shouldn't even be driving pedal go-carts.

I can't complain I was incredibly lucky it wasn't worse as far as they can tell Organs and stuff came away basically fine and I could have been paralyzed if I hadn't been hit just the right way or worse dead. Luckily I have lots of morphine to do me for awhile.

Really sorry to hear of you accident, Jeremy. That's a horrific tally of broken bones. :\

Last time someone ran a stop sign on me they went full force on a rainy day into the side of my Dodge stealth back in the 90's. I got the frame repaired but the car never felt right after that so I unloaded it.

The worst part was the lady driving the car apologizing to me, asking if she could leave the scene of the accident, then changing her story to say she stopped at the stop sign before continuining on. My car was only eight feet from that stop sign when it was hit, and she clearly went into me at over 20 mph.

BTW, inexplicably, the airbag did not deploy. Good thing my brain is made out of Superball(tm).

Liberty's Edge

My father was hit by a distracted driver when he was in college (around 1979). He had some minor brain damage, and has had memory problems and mood swings ever since. I'm glad nothing like that didn't happen to you.

The body can heal. The mind can't.

Sonova...dude. I hope you heal quickly and with as little pain as possible.

I notice you're a Canadian as well Jeremy. Me too. Any other Canucks on this board that have been hit by cars in the past few weeks?

Well I am off of work for about 3 months maybe more but funny enough I'm still gonna dm my game on sunday night. With pain killers it's just really uncomfortable but not as painful. As long as I stay doped I'm fine but when I'm off them well...... let's just hope I don't forget those little pills.

I understand. My recovery post-surgery was like that. :)

Scarab Sages

Wishing you all the best Jeremy. Get well soon.

Hello everyone out there. This is Jeremy's partner Alex this morning around 3 am he had to be rushed to the hospital, he's been unable to see since then and occasionally coughing up blood. He's in the hospital and he's in a really bad mood I'll be taking his laptop to him to get him to cheer up. But I'm really worried about him and I would like as many people as possible to say a few prayers for him.
Sincerely,
Alex Bond

Whoa. That's terrible. We'll do some prayin'.

Sorry to hear about the accident and its sequel, Jeremy. I will keep you in my prayers as well.

Dark Archive

Two years ago, I had an accident at a rotatory (here in Italy they're appearing everywhere pretty fast) when a guy hit me in the left side of my car - he basically came off the rotatory, as if pulled by centrifugal force - while I was waiting in line.
He jumped off his BMW with a surprised look waving a cell phone, and said "Hey! I was just talking on the phone!".
Despite a painful wound to my leg, I had the urge to punch him in the face. Luckily he got scared of my very, very profane swearing and stayed at a distance.

Jeremy, get well soon. Forza e coraggio.

We certainly will. I hope everything turns out OK.

Double ouch!

Keeping my fingers crossed here (not really into the praying thing)!

Best of luck, Jeremy. Get well soon.

My thoughts are with you for a rapid and flawless recovery.

Liberty's Edge

Peace, man.

I'm not a prolific poster, so I hope it's all right to join in. I sincerely hope you recover and that the coughing up blood thing is easily fixable with no surgery required. From your description that was a very bad accident (though thankfully not a fatality or a paralysis situation). I hope you get out of the hospital soon!

Always! Especially when bringing good tidings!

Good luck, Jeremy. We hope to hear good news from you or Alex soon.

Dark Archive

Hey guys thanks for all the kind words, and yes I'm ok. (a couple x-rays and one CAT scan later) The blood thing is fine just a little rupture but not enough to get all worried about just can't move around so much. And as for the sight thing I just knocked my head a little harder thsn they though and have a little problem with the nerves behind the eyes and it's apparently a simple operation. Bottom line I'm fine. And I appreciate all the kind words.

Whew. Glad to hear that.

I take it you can see again....

Dark Archive

In one eye yeah still kinda fuzzy, the other not at all.

Scarab Sages

Glad to hear that you're doing better Jeremy, and that the eye-thing can be fixed with a simple operation. I'll still offer up an extra prayer or two to my unholy masters, but the route I was going to take is unnecessary now.

Ohhhh, that is so annoying! Glad to hear your up and running.

(Sending warm bubbly healing thoughts.)

Dark Archive

Good news I'll be out saturday morning, Unfortunately I've had to get my head shaved (better that then just a large chunk shaved off). But I will still be Dming on Sundqay even after this whole ordeal.

Way to get on your feet again! :D

How's the recuperation going?

Dark Archive

Good, I get the cast off my wrist next week, which is cool. I get rather ancy wanting to get out and stuff. I should be up and ready in a few more weeks. Thanks for asking.

No problem. Glad to hear the cast is coming off. The business with the vision that got posted above was kind of scary. Here's hoping that the rest of your year is nothing but awesome!

Dark Archive

Finally getting my leg Cast off and now I have to use a cane for a while but it's a major improvement. I'm now mobile.

Sovereign Court

Good to hear, how's your eyesight?

Dark Archive

Ok, still fuzzy in one eye but I have glasses now and that helps.

Sovereign Court

Will[or can] the fuzziness be fixed at some point?

Get well soon!

I think what we need is not more good drivers, but less awful and inconsiderate ones.

Plus, you can cash in on that Dr. House charm. You'll soon need that cane to fight off all those sexy young female doctors who totally want you!

Jeremy Mcgillan wrote:

There's other parts that are much worse if they're shaved. I haven't had my head shaved, but I don't think you'll get a visit from the Simpsons favourite cartoon characters for that.

Plus, you can wear a goatee now and play up that evil DM look. Your players will quiver in fear. (Always look on the bright side I say).

And you're right: Head injuries can be quite bad. A cousin of mine died of one of those (after a collision with a car), and he was only seven.

Liberty's Edge

As an aside, two girls in my very small town were killed in a car crash about a week ago. It's sickening how they're being turned into symbols. Read this for my extended opinion.
