I thought I was the only one who noticed that.

Female Human Bard 1

Spot;Sense Motive (1d20+1=5, 1d20+1=20)

Vivienne waits until the spell cast by Dayenn Night finds hold, before she steps into action.

I did notice it, too

Spoiler:
If the cook with the cleaver falls down asleep, Vivienne just walks over to him takes the weapon out of his hands and knocks him further into the land of dreams with the pommel of her dagger, before binding im. "Everything's under control. Please be seated and wait until the guard will arrive. I am sure they will want to hear the testimony of yours."
Diplomacy (1d20+7=27)

If the cook does not fall asleep, Vivienne lets out a shriek, a sung high note, that might chill everyone to the bone and let them stop, what they are doing.

Seeing the madman enter the restaurant, Armand quickly jumps to his feet and steps protectively in front of Vivienne while drawing his sword.

Ready an action to attack the butcher in case he comes this way

Dark Archive

Nathaniel and Grim move forward to intercept the berserk chef. Nathan strikes the chef on the side of his head to no avail. Grim misses his attack. Marius attempts to lock gazes with the chef but the chef simply wasn't looking in his direction.

Meanwhile, Witch interposes himself between the chef and the customer.

Invoking his strange powers, the Professor unleashes a burst of energy among the combatants.

Will Save DC 14 for Nathan and Grim; Witch already made his; failure means you guys fall down asleep.

The chef staggers for but a moment and continues inextricably in the direction he is moving towards. He attacks Witch, who is standing in his way, with his bloody cleaver, striking him across the chest, blood splattering everywhere. Witch crumples to the floor his life’s blood draining away.

Take 8 points of damage, Witch; that places you at minus one.

Vivienne lets out a shriek. Armand draws his sword and moves in front of Vivienne.

End of Round 1

Joy.

Male Human Beguiler 1

Dayenn looks at 'Witch' and the others and the man stumbling forward and realizes he may have screwed up "The mind is a mysterious thing!" he says while drawing a dagger and rushing into the fray.

Watching his two colleagues fall to the floor, Dayenn thinks 'So susceptible to hypnosis. I really have to be more selective in my choice of assistants!'

Dayenn is such a &!#$

deciding it would be better to take this chef out Marius draws his hand axe and throws it at the chef.

Marius appears at the blind side of the chef and strikes the chef’s neck. Blood spurts, bathing both Marius and the chef in crimson. But the chef does not fall.

The chef brushes aside Marius with a swipe of his bloody cleaver, drawing blood as it slices through his torso.

Take 4 points of damage, Marius.

The shock of seeing three of your companions fall is more than Dayenn can bear and he recklessly exposes himself to danger, as plunges a dagger through the left arm of the chef.

Dayenn Sense Motive DC 15

Spoiler:
No pain registers on the face of the chef.

Waiting for the actions of Vivienne and Armand.

Witch, roll stabilize check.

Male Human Cleric 1

Seeing two of the professor's companions suddenly drop to the floor Armand turns to the lady behind him.
"Mademoiselle, I think it's best you leave at once, this is no place for a lady!"
Giving her a gentle push towards the door Armand quickly crosses the floor to the discarded body of the Witchbrand and kneels down. Sensing a weak pulse, Armand reaches into his shirt and pulls out his holy symbol while saying a short prayer. Immediately the gash across the Witchbrand's chest closes and is replaced by a layer of pinkish new skin.

Witch opens his eyes, and feels his near-vanished wound. "Thank you. I see that I'm not the only healer here." He sees the mad cook still walking steadily toward the man, and says, "That's it. I've really gotten sick of this guy. Haelyn? Get him. I'm sorry to kill him but Haelyn isn't trained to take foes alive."

A massive snake uncoils from under the table, hissing. Seeing its foe, it attacks.
Haelyn's attack 1d20+4=15, if applicable damage 1d4-1=1 (plus poison, fortitude save DC 11 or 1d6 Con)

Dayenn hears Grim dreaming about him and wishes he had time to scribble a note.

Dark Archive

The chef does not slow upon being bitten by the snake. Then, a look of comprehension appears on his face and he clutches his chest. The bloody cleavers fall from the trembling hands of the chef.

To those who are awake Spot DC 10

Spoiler:
The person the chef was attempting to kill observes everything despite the Dayenn's spell.

Female Human Bard 1

Spot (1d20+1=11)

Vivienne motions to Armand. "Armand, Witchbrand, take the Cleaver." She picks up a knife from the table making ready to throw it at any opponent. "I'll cover you."

Male Human Beguiler 1

"Vivienne, the chance that our 'heroes' over here could get arrested for being ugly and in the wrong place has passed. Would you try to wake them?"

Female Human Bard 1

"Sure, professor."

Vivienne makes her way to the scene of the fight (in the hope that WItchbarnd or Armand both pick up the cleaver before she arrives there). There she kneels down to the sleeping figures and shakes Nathaniel and Grim softly at their shoulders to bring them back to consciousness.

spot check (1d20-1=17)

Marius walks over to the chef and picks up both the cleaver and his hand axe, then gives the chef a kick in the side. before looking up at the person he was coming after and smiling evilly.

The caliban approaches the man. "What is your name?"

Grim snores loudly.

Grim and Nathan, Vivienne is waking you guys.

The Witchbrand wrote:

The man, his gratitude readily apparent on his face, grasps Witch's hand, ignoring the color of his skin, and shakes it, "Thank you very much. Know that you have just saved Julian d'Sand, recently of Richemulot."

Spoiler:
The man's features changes to something demonic. For but a second. Now it is normal human looking.

Male Human Beguiler 1

Dayenn checks out Vivienne while she bends over the sleeping would-be-heroes and searches his mind for anything that would explain what he saw tonight -- the weirdo with the knife, I mean, not Vivienne bending over. Knowledge (arcana) 1d20+6=23

Dark Archive

For Dayenn

Spoiler:
It's morning. Anyways, the Chef appears to be under some influence. His lack of reaction to pain confirms it. Its possible he was under a spell by but your arcane senses does not detect any arcane interference. Spellcasters in my campaign have what I call witchsight.

Male Human Beguiler 1

Dayenn scans the restaurant for anyone who looks suspicious -- present company excluded, of course.

sense motive 1d20+7

Marius turns away from the man and walks over to Dayenn and kneels beside him as he attends the chef and whispers into Dayenn's ear.

For Dayenn

Spoiler:

"Ummm...doc I think I am seeing things but when I looked at the guy the chef was after the guy's features changed to something demonic and then back to human, in the blink of an eye."

For Dayenn

Spoiler:
For a man who had been the object of the murderous rage of the chef, Julian D'Sands is a very calm man. You do not detect any hint of fear in his manner, as if he knew you and your companions would intervene.

Marius glance back at Julian D'Sands and looks him over.

Marius's Sense Motive on Julian D'Sands (1d20+4=16)

Male Human Cleric 1

Armand is more interested in the chef, who now seems to have been freed from whatever power had taken over his mind (sudden images of his wife Marie flailing her arms and pounding the wall for no apparent reason flashes through his mind).
Is the chef conscious or?

The chef is not conscious and breathing is shallow, labored.
