Campaign Overview

Curse of the Crimson Throne

Hello all,

I really like what I've seen for the CotCT AP so far, and am considering running a modded version of it for my new campaign this summer. I'm wondering, other than the (necessarily vague) promotional text, is there a campaign overview similar to the one in the Age of Worms Overload?

For that matter, does one exist for the Rise of the Runelords adventure?

If not, would it be possible to get one? I'm running AoW for a group right now, and am finding it extremely useful to keep my eyes on the Big Picture without needing to read too far in advance of the current session (quite handy as I'm big on love for the game, but short on time).

Thanks for any help you can offer!

OK, nevermind. :)

James Jacobs mentioned a preview of the CotCT in Pathfinder #6, and what do you know? There's that overview I was on about.

Thanks for being one step ahead of me, Paizo!

There is a Rise of the Runelords overview in Pathfinder #1 as well.

...but they didn't know all that much about RotRL when they wrote it, and it shows. Use with caution. The summaries of each module are *very* short, and often fairly misleading: we found this particularly true of #3 and #5. #3 makes a claim about what the PCs will do that almost no group I've heard about has ever actually done.

When Paizo staff gets a chance, could you let me know whether we SHOULD use with caution? Is the information designed as an overview for DMs or a teaser that's player friendly? If it's the later, will there be a more detailed overview coming? I ask because I plan on making what COULD be major changes to get it to fit my setting, I just don't know until I know more of the overarching plot. Just makes the difference in whether I start working on it before all 6 come out or wait until I have them all in front of me to review as a continuous story.

Thanks in advance.

The overview of CoCT in Pathfinder #6 is absolutely not player friendly.

I just re-read the overview in question and don't see any particularly misleading text. The only "claim" it makes about the PCs for #3 is that they join a group of rangers, take custody of the fort, and get lead by the nose to wiping out the ogres. All three of those proved true for my group. Hell, not only did I not have to use the nymph's ghost to get them to go after the ogres, I had to do some fancy footwork to keep them from going straight to the ogre cave before dealing with the fort! The party spent almost a year in-game in between PF3 and PF4 working on the keep and their followers. The keep itself is the single most successful aspect of the entire campaign so far. I suspect you're in a considerably smaller minority in that respect than you think you are.
